Cast Your Burdens, Cares, Worries, Anxieties, and etc.

Just as my child brings his broken toys

with tears

for me to mend,

I took my broken dreams to God

because He was my friend.

But then…instead of leaving Him

in peace

to work alone,

I hung around and tried to help

with ways that were my own.

At last I snatched them back

and cried,

“How could You be so slow?”

“What could I do, My child?” He said.

“You never did let go.”

Is there a worry, care, burden, or issue that you are holding on to that you need to turn over to the Lord?  Maybe today is the day we should do just that.  I say “we” because I have a few myself.   I pray to God, but then I still worry about them or try to fix them.  So, really I never turned them over.

Psalm 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” NIV

1 Peter 5:7, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” NIV

  2. I have so many things I’m worrying about. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t even tried to leave them with God YET! I say “yet” because that is about to change. I’m going to pray and spend some quiet time with God before I go to bed. I’m putting everything else on the back burner for the evening.

Melissa, I do have a special prayer request. I have a friend and church family member who just found out last week she has lung cancer. She’s 25 years old. Please pray for her and her family, she goes tomorrow to start working on a treatment plan with her doctor.

    Thank you so much. Jennifer

  3. Thanks for sharing that poem…I needed to hear that.
