Happy Day After Thanksgiving!

***I made it through Thanksgiving. It was a great day, but thoughts of my mother were at the forefront of my mind all day. It was hard not to just spend the day crying. I could have done that, but Mom would be furious with me if I did. She would tell me that I wasted my day. I decided to focus on my family that was with me. I’m so thankful for each of them and we had a great day. I did have moments of tears and when I did, my kids and husband were right there with hugs. 1st Thanksgiving without my mother is now history. That’s all I’ll say about that.

Hope all my US friends had a great Thanksgivng holiday wherever and however you spent it. If you have any leftover turkey, I have found some great ideas on what to do with it, thanks to my sweet and beautiful friend, Karen Ehman. Visit Karen’s blog for 10 creative and easy recipes. #10, Turkey Quesadillas, is top of my list!

Blessings to you my friends. Enjoy today and the rest of your weekend.

  1. Melissa
Sounds like we both had the same kind of Thanksgiving…loving the ones we were around, but aching in our hearts for our momma’s. Glad to get that “first” done, my next one is the 9th of Dec. that is my mom’s birthday. Then on to the biggest one of the year…Chirstmas.
    Hugs and love to you

  2. I was thinking about you and Tricia yesterday and how hard this holiday was going to be for you all. I have such fond memories of last year, when I went to your mom and Buddy’s house and we had Low Country Boil.

But, you’re right – your mom would have been furious with you for having a daylong cry-fest. She’s so proud of you guys anyway, and keeping the rituals and traditions that you guys shared with her are the best ways to keep her memory alive and with you at all times, especially through the holidays.

    Love you!
