Cooking With Melissa

Oh my gracious, the title of this post just makes me laugh!  I am so not a cook and definitely don’t feel qualified to do a cooking demonstration!  But as you see often on this blog, you don’t have to be an expert to share now do ya?  And it’s a good thing, because here are 4 short clips of me sharing just a few of my cooking tips with you :)

Melissa Presents….Eggs with spinach and a Salmon Wrap.

How about let’s talk eating vegetarian style….and oh yea, can someone fix my hair please?

Eggs are ready!  Yummy!  And guess how much weight I’ve lost?

Hair up or hair down?

(I left it down.)

As promised, I am giving away the book and conference call series for our next call.  Emma Brown, you are the winner!!!  Congratulations!  Send me your email address and I’ll be in touch about getting you signed up for our next study and sending you your new book!

One more thing (and this is a last minute edit) I just read Samantha Reed’s blog~fabulous message. Go check it out, especially if you have ever felt like you were unloveable. http://fieldsgold.blogspot.com/2011/02/unloveable.html

Y’all tune in tomorrow for a bonus Vlog on exercise!  Warning:  No make up worn in tomorrow’s clip.  Yikes!

Have a great Friday!

Much Love <3

Melissa

  1. Great clips today! Congrats on the 20 lbs. I’m getting ready to weigh myself for the week. I’ll let you know the results.

I’m looking forward to the next study. By book has been patiently waiting on my TBR pile.

I like you hair down. Beautiful!

    Blessings,
    Colletta

  2. Melissa — Thank you so much for the encouragement you have given to all of us. Your cooking vlogs were great! I’m gonna try both wraps — it’s just the kind of stuff I’ve learned to enjoy. And — way to go, girl!!! 20 pounds is awesome!! I didn’t have much to lose — my big weight loss was about 7 years ago when I lost 40 pounds. Right now, I was just trying to shed a few that I’d put on — and I have done that. It’s time to maintain and keep holding on to the new eating habits. And honestly, my body won’t let me go back. Last night, my husband treated us by bringing home chicken strips. I ate one and 5 hours later my stomach was rebelling against the “foreign object.”
I am SO looking forward to the next study. Hope you can enjoy a bit of a break between now and then. God bless you for your service to us on His behalf. KK

  3. You are as cute as can be!!! The hair thing cracked me up! You look beautiful either way – I do like it down a tad better though! :-)

The egg stuff looks yummy. That is tomorrow’s breakfast! Major congrats on the 20 pounds, but more congrats on what you have learned through the journey!!!

Thanks for being you and sharing you with all of us! Danette

  4. Thank you!! Barb wall

  5. Melissa – congrats on your weight loss. Like you I am learning not to be slave to the scale – it is hard, but with God’s help I am doing it. Enjoyed your cooking demonstrations – will try for Sat’s breakfast. You look beautiful hair up or down.
One request, will you please show us how you tie your scarf???? It is a little different than I am used to and I like it.

  6. Hi Melissa, Watched the vlog right before cooking breakfast, and since I had purchased fresh spinach this week as a result of your blogs, I fixed the eggs and spinach. It was good!! As I was cooking it I thought that I had made a terrible decision and was not going to have time to poach some eggs before work – but I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you!! If I were to choose, I like your hair up – shows off your gorgeous face – but on Friday’s easy always wins out for me!! Thank you for continuing to help us on this journey.

  7. Hey Melissa.

Girl thank you for the MTC study. I do not have the book yet and I have not been doing the weekly study but girl you inspired me. I have lost some weight. I do not know how much because I do not have a scale. I am not in a hurry to find out yet because I do not want to be defined by the numbers on the scale but by who God says I am. You look fabulous and I could tell from the first vlog that you had lost some weight. 20lbs!! you go girl. I am happy for you. This time it’s different from what it was before. I wish you had left the hair up, you look so cute. Anyway, the journey continues even after today. Have a good day and enjoy your weekend.

  8. Your clips just made me laugh out loud, and I needed to laugh, so thankyou!! xxx (with you not at you btw!!)

  9. You are the cutest thing…loved the hair question! We cook in similar ways and there really are yummy ways to eat with not a lot of calories! I also like to spread a laughing cow cheese wedge on my wrap, gives it some creaminess for only 35 calories and I can get them at Costco for a good price. Try laughing cow, green chiles and chopped chicken and some lettuce, yum!
Great on the 20 pounds, I could tell you lost a lot. I am going slow and steady because I still choose to eat some things that maybe I should not, but I will get there.

  10. Melissa – thanks for sharing yourself, your heart and what a “real” Jesus girl looks like…no frills, not airbrushed and perfect only, but beautiful inside and out and genuine.

Your food ideas sound yummy…I may try some of those since it’s easy to get into a rut with what I eat after doing this since the beginning of January!

Your hair looks great up AND down! :)

  11. Congrats on your 20 lbs….PTL! I love the Flatouts! I love the tomato basil ones with a wedge of laughing cow…rolled up as a snack. I live in a rural area so I order them from their website. Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Bless you:)

  12. Melissa as always you did fantastic!!! Good job you got the powahhh!!! Your food ideas look yummy. I could tell you have lost some weight, you look great not that you ever looked bad. You have been such an inspiration. Congrats on your 20lbs.Thanks for sharing you heart and being so real. May the GOD of the universe bless you and continue to use you to reach more and more woman. You are beautiful inside and out. Love you girl!!!

  13. A bit of humor for your day/or/night, whenever you read this. When you shower do you sometimes lather up with the extra shampoo? I do. Well, I finally read the shampoo label and it says that it will ADD Volume and Body. I was wondering why I had difficulty keeping my weight under control. From now on I shall try the dishwashing liquid, as that label reads “dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove”. What do you think?

On a sad note, I am back to old (unhealthy) eating patterns. (Knee jerk reaction). I dissappoint not only myself, but my heavenly Father, you Jesus girls, and my husband and children. Sorry. Forgive Me? Thanks for listening.

  14. LOVED these videos and congrats on the 20 lbs.–awesome! Thanks again so much for all you have done in leading this study, I enjoyed it so much. I am not signed up to do the next one as I start leading the Made to Crave study week after next and don’t think I can keep up with two, but I will keep checking in to see what you all are learning. Oh and for the last question…I loved your hair up–thought it looked great!

  15. Love learning the tips and always enjoy learning about new healthy foods. Congrats on the weight loss – I’m slowing getting back to consistent healthy eating – and slowly incorporating consistent exercise. My body, also, lets me know when I’ve eaten the wrong things! Love the hair up, by the way!

  16. You inspire me, you are such a cute young thing! 20 pounds is great. Going to try the eggs, where do you buy the wraps? I need to look for those. Not a mayo girl, but i might put a little mustard on that wrap instead! Thanks for all that you do for all of us. I am going to turn 49 in one month! But I will not let that number define me either! Hugs and like the hair down, you are cute either way however!

  17. Inspired and encouraged. Thank you, love the hair up or down, love the scarf and love your food tips too. I do my eggs in the pyrex measuring cup as well, w/o the spinach…then when they are almost cooked I fill my skillet with spinach on top and cover just for a few minutes…also, have you tried doing them with Feta or Crumbled Blue Cheese? Can serve in little custard cups for people to take which ever they like (I like blue but hubby can’t eat it…also blue & feta together. Can’t wait to do my wrap for lunch :) Be blessed and big congratulations!
    < Cindy :)

  18. Congrats on the weight loss, girl ~ that is AWESOME!!! I’m so proud of you 😉
