Courageous!

Temptation. It’s everywhere. Especially if you are watching what you eat.

I don’t know about you, but I notice it much more now than at the beginning of this study. At the beginning I felt “da powahhh” (the power for those who are just joining us) and I felt so strong and motivated that it seemed nothing could stop me. I was focused and didn’t experience set backs. And I was surprised by this.

Now in the 6th and final week of MTC study, I thought I’d be pretty good at this resisting temptation and being strong. What I’ve found is that it is more of a struggle than ever. I have to focus on keeping my focus. I have to be super intentional on keeping my guard up. And 1 Corinthians 10:13 has become one of my favorite verses:

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (NIV)

I (and hopefully you too) cling to the TRUTH that God is faithful…He will provide a way out.  And for me, many times that way out is my own choice to eat something else or just walk away. Rely on God. Rely on my decisions to know what is beneficial to me and what is not. And just do it.

This week we are re-affirming that:

Our journey with Jesus lasts.  Diets don’t.

When we stand on the scale and see our goal weight staring back at us, we’re always just one choice away from reversing all the progress we’ve made.

Victory isn’t a place we arrive at and then relax.

We maintain victories with each next choice.

Some actions are not sinful in themselves, but they are not appropriate because they can control our lives and lead us away from God.

Focusing on what we are giving up will make us feel constantly deprived.

Courage fills my heart, mind, and soul with everything alive and possible and invigorating.

One of the richest lessons has been realizing the amount of mental and spiritual energy I wasted for years just wishing things would change.  All the while beating myself up for not having he discipline to make those changes.

Live as an overcomer not a victim.

My healthy choices makes me feel empowered not deprived.

Whether we are on the path toward victory or defeat is determined by the very next choice we make.

It is my prayer that you are on the path towards victory.

I know this is the last week of study. But we are just beginning our journey. And let me tell you, whether you have surpassed your expectations or you feel like you’ve let yourself down, it’s not too late. This is the beginning. We are on a journey to crave God more than food. For many that may take practice. Just don’t let Satan whisper the words of discouragement to you. No no no.  Because our word this week is COURAGEOUS. Keep your courage. No matter what has happened so far, Be strong and courageous. (Joshua 1:9)

One way to keep your courage and stay strong is to keep growing and learning God’s Word and applying it to your life. Living God’s Word Is So Much Better Than…

…just knowing it.

If you are visiting here today from the Proverbs 31 Devotion by Rachel Olsen, welcome to my blog!  And for you regulars, you know I’m glad you are here today. I love my little community of friends here.  (and for my subscribers, I know you received this yesterday, thank you for hanging in there with me and my many mistakes! Today is the day I meant to post this!)

When I was a young girl in 3rd grade Sunday school class, our teacher would challenge us to memorize Bible verses.  There was always some kind of candy/yummo/chocolate prize and so of course I had to win.  If it was connected to food, then I was there. (seriously sad how food motivated I was!)  Since the deal was only the first person to memorize and recite it aloud could win, from the moment our teacher began calling out the verse, I would start flipping in my Bible to find it.  And y’all I kid you not, 9 out of 10 times I was the winner. I even memorized all the books of the Bible that year. And I ate a lot of oversized Hershey bars as a result. I learned some of God’s Word that year and it brought me knowledge and candy. Years later I learned how to live, I mean really live, God’s Word, and it brought me peace, joy, contentment, and freedom.  There’s a big difference between having knowledge of the scriptures and having them come alive in your life.

The next online study taking place right here is It’s No Secret: Revealing Divine Truths Every Woman Should Know, by Rachel Olsen. One of the main reasons I’m so excited about studying this book is because it truly does reveal biblical secrets waiting to come alive in our lives. This book moves beyond just sharing scripture with the readers, it shares how to make them come alive so that we can live them. And when we live out God’s Word in our lives, we experience a freedom like never before.  This study is fun yet practical and the perfect study to do with a few girlfriends. Which is what I plan to do right here on my blog and you are invited!

To sign up for this powerful 6 week study, just send an email to: ItsNoSecretSignUp@gmail.com. For all the information on this study, visit the Online Bible Study Info section of this blog. The study and atmosphere here is friendly, encouraging, and challenging as we strive together to learn more about becoming the women God created us to be. I would love for you to join me!

So, now that you’ve learned about this awesome new online study that can help bring God’s Word alive in your life, go check out my friend and author of It’s No Secret, Rachel Olsen’s blog today. She is talking about who you are in Christ! I’m headed there right now!

GIVE AWAY ALERT :)

And come back here tomorrow because I feel like giving something away and you just might be the winner!  Plus for all you sweet healthy MTC Gals, we are right in the middle of our last week of study and I have a message for you!

Y’all have a great day!

Made to Crave ~ Week 6

Week 6~Homework and Assignments

Our word for the week is:

COURAGEOUS

Oh how I absolutely LOVE this word. Do you believe that you are courageous?  Do you have the courage it takes to continue to rely on God? To keep believing that you are worth all the healthy choices you’ve decided to make? To admit that boundaries keep us safe not restricted? That this time around will be different?  I hope you answered with a big ole resounding “YES” to these questions!

My favorite verse on courage can be found in the book of Joshua. It’s a verse that I gave to my 2nd son when he was born. God let me know that Hayden would need that verse many times throughout his life. He let me know I would need it too. Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV)  Please read that and apply it to you and your life. You have what it takes, don’t doubt that. Grab on to courage from the Lord Himself. Be strong and courageous.
