INS Super Challenge

Before we get to the Super Challenge (which I am so stinkin’ excited about!), first I must announce the winner of Wendy Blight’s book. The winner was randomly selected from all those who left comments over the past 2 days.  Drum Roll Please……rat a tat tat tat tat tat  (lousy drum roll that was)

The winner of Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner, by Wendy Blight is:

JENNI DAY!  Congrats Jenni :)   You have won the next Online Bible Study book!  Send me an email so I can get your information!  Now you have a new book and you get the P31 devos to you inbox every weekday!  This must be your lucky week!

Thank you to all who commented over the past 2 days about the Proverbs 31 Daily Devotions and P31 Woman Magazine!  I’m so glad that God is blessing you through these awesome resources. For those of you who signed up and subscribed for the first time, I pray you will love them and that God will speak to you through the messages you will read.  Thanks for continuing to help spread the news about Proverbs 31!

Now on to the INS Super Challenge!  If you are participating in the INS Conference Call Series, then you already know about the challenge and hopefully you have been giving it some prayer and thought.  This was something God placed on my heart and I felt so compelled to share it with all of you.  I knew He was asking me to take the challenge but I think He may be asking you to consider it also.  Of course that is between you and Him, but I’m at least going to share it with you.

The It’s No Secret Super CHALLENGE
Are you up to it?
Here are 9 Challenges based on the 1st 9 chapters of INS. We will discuss these over the next few weeks a little bit, on this blog and on the Online Bible Studies Facebook Page.  Discussion will be limited, but please feel free to take it and run with it yourselves!  Start a thread on the Discussion Board on our Facebook page for example!  Comment to each other here as well.  We still have one more week of study and that will be our focus, but at least begin thinking about which of these challenges God might want you to really commit to and focus on.  I suggest picking 4-5 total, but that’s up to you. You know what you need to work on, so you can decide.
1.  Challenge: Chit chat with the Lord.
Have you responded to God?  Communicate with Him daily.
2.  Challenge: Follow Christ with your actions.
What is Jesus worth to you?  What is God asking you to sacrifice, give, or do?   Do it.
3.  Challenge: Drop the pride.
Have you been focusing on God and helping others rather than trying to get ahead?  Who can you help get ahead instead of grasping at something you deserve?
Extra Challenge:  Not to think so much about ourselves. Give up worrying that you might miss out on something.  Record the unexpected joy you found when you did this.
4.  Challenge:  Controlled Reactions
When you are emotionally hurting:
DON’T numb with food, shopping, dieting, decorating, or margaritas.
DON’T become angry and fight back.
DO let God fight the battle for you.
5.  Challenge: Focus outward, be generous.
No room for greediness.  Have generousity as a foundation of your character.  Who can you bless by sharing with someone in need?
6.  Challenge:  To find the blessing in any and all situations.
When trouble comes your way, what do you do?
Hebrews 13:5
Isaiah 45:3
Find a treasure in a dark time (past or present).  Write it down to remind you of God’s faithfulness.
7.  Challenge: Practice real love.
Where do you find your worth?  How do you rate others?
1 John 3:18-19
Record your experience with practicing real love.  (1 Cor 13 style)
8.  Challenge: Take off the mask.
Do you ask for help when you need it?  Why or why not?
What are your reasons for keeping to yourself and not asking for help?
Get over it.  Ask for help when you need it. Be real. Take off the mask.
9.  Challenge:  Institute a real Sabbath rest once a week.
Are you doing this really?  Are you ready to do it?  Let’ do it.
10.  Your choice
11.  Your choice
12.  Your choice
For me, God has made it clear to work on #2, #4, #6, and #9.  I’m not sure how or what He’s going to do with it but I’m up for the super challenge!
Are you with me?  Are you up for a challenge?

  1. Jennifer Renee says:

I’m with yu on the challenge. The ones I’m focusing on are:
Number 1. I do talk to Jesus throughout the day but I really need to spend time with him.
Number 4. I have problems dealing with emotional hurt. I don’t numb with food, shopping, dieting etc. but I try to or think about hurting myself because of my emotional hurt.
Number 8. I’m working hard on asking for help and not getting frustrated when there isn’t anyone to help me.
I’ve also been thinking about numbers 3 and 5 although I don’t know how I could help someone else. I’ve always thought I was generous but my generosity is usually a material thing like a card or something hand made. Perhaps God will help me to be generous in a non-material way.

    • Jennifer Renee, Good for you for taking the challenge and trusting God! It will be great to see how God meets you and works in your heart. Please keep us posted!

  2. I’m in. Mine would have to be 2,4,5,7,8.
2)God is calling me to help others and use my past experiences now to help others through as He has shown me- no I’m still not where I should be in my healing but Praise God I am not where I was!

4)My emotions have often time been explosive which is not good for any one.

5)Instead of sitting at home fearing going out or thinking what I have to offer wouldn’t help anyone I am going to step out of myself and focus on someone else.

    7) I’m actually ashamed of this one – I tend to judge others simply by what they look like instead of who they are.
    8) Although I like my skillfully crafted masks that I’ve held on to for years I am going to work on getting rid of them and ask for help when I need it. I tend to keep things to myself because I have to prove ( probably still to my mom who could care less now cuz she and I don’t speak) to myself I can do ANYTHING – and clearly I can’t. I actually think 8 should be the first to be worked on, cuz if I appear human I can reach more with emotion instead of too much detachment.

    So there’s my list.

    • Great Debi! So glad you are in for the challenge! These changes can be tough, but with God they are possible and you will be blessed for your obedience! I think we will all be strengthened by stepping out of our comfort zones and listening closely to what God is asking us to do. Thank you for sharing this with us!!!! I love what you are doing!

  3. I’m ready to take the challange. I will be working on1,2,3,4,6,9. These are the ones God wants me to work on. I am for sure.I sometimes have a temper. stress related and it is so hard to not lose my temper.I really want to find the good things on my dark days. I need a more positive aditude.

  4. #9 – Our busy lifestyles (not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, etc) are not conducive to internal peace & harmony. For me, especially, I easily get lost in the shuffle and find myself forcing that happy face by week’s end and longing for something………..struggling to keep my spirits up…………I’m missing the Love connection. :-) I need downtime to cleanse myself. I love what Rachel says in Chp. 9 about Life coming from the Inside Out. When I’m connected, people know it, feel it, see it, sense it! And when I’m not, it shows, no matter which “concealer” I use.
#2 – I need to apply more action into the love for my husband. 😉 Sometimes, I just wake up and look at him with an evil eye, for no reason. HA! (oh, come on, who hasn’t done that, we’re women—it happens) I need to remember that he is a blessing and also a temple of God and I need to see him as such, always, and act accordingly.
#1 – Enough talking, READ the WORD and LISTEN! Enough said there!
#5 – SMILE…..be pure & generous of yourself, be free to love. This is a tough one. It’s so easy to fall into the ‘self’ trap of just trying to survive, to take care of ourselves & circumstances in this busy life we’ve created! It’s easy to forget to look outward, at others too. OUCH.
