For Unto Us A Child Is Born.

That verse from Isaiah 9:6 is indeed the reason we celebrate Christmas.  God gave us what we could never give ourselves…a Savior.  And I am so grateful for that.

There is not a day that goes by that I don’t need the love, grace, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. I was reminded at church last night that God is, God was, and God will always be with me. We can’t say that about anything or anyone else on this earth. God forgives, God gives peace, God loves, God provides. He’s there in the valley with us, He’s there on the mountaintop. He’s there when we make a complete mess of our lives and He’s there when we have success. Who else can we say this about? No one.

For unto us a Child is born.

With Jesus we are not promised that we won’t have trouble, but we are promised He will be there with us. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Whatever is waiting in our future, God is already there. Arms wide open. To love. To heal. To comfort.

For unto us a Child is born.

I want to be more like this Child that God gave the world. But I can’t. I try. I fail. The good news is that He sees my heart. He knows I try and fail, but He also knows I love big. I take risks. My mouth and feelings get me trouble. But my heart is His and it is good. He knows that and He is with me No Matter What.

For unto us a Child is born.

Do I believe this Child is enough? Even if everything else is lost, is He enough?  Yes I do. I’m banking my life on it. I’m alive because of it.

Life is short. My pastor said last night, “The question isn’t is God with you, it’s are you with God?

For unto us a Child is born.

Disappointments are inevitable. The Child given to us is eternal. And He won’t leave us. And He can save us. Because of Him we can have joy no matter what is going on around us. “The joy of the Lord is my strength,” Nehemiah 8:10 says. James says we can “consider it pure joy whenever we face trials of many kinds.” This is only possible through Jesus. Jesus. Jesus. Jesus, Who we celebrate this season.

“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Merry Christmas dear friends. May the Lord, Whose birthday we are celebrating, reign in your hearts and bring you all the joy, peace, and everlasting love you need.

Let us recognize who You are, Lord
That nothing can substitute for the love
    You have already given us.
No earthly treasure could be worth what
You have for us now and in the future.
That nothing can bring true happiness
Peace and Joy into our lives,
That nothing can be better than what
You have planned for our lives
And Your love for us is the greatest love of all.
Let us recognize who You are, Lord
    For Your greatness, Your powerfulness,
Your strength, Your character and Your love
    all reflect who You are.
You are our Creator, Provider, Protector,
Sustainer of Life, Lover of our souls, Comforter,
    Forgiver, all-knowing, everywhere, eternal, _
You are our Joy, our Peace and our Hope!
