Made to Crave, 2012~Week 6

Hey my awesome Bible Study Group!!!  Do you know how much you have blessed me?  Last week was a big blur, especially Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I don’t wish the flu on anyone!  Taking the week off was good for all of us I guess. From your notes and comments, many of you needed the extra week and I certainly was out of commission. On the days I wanted to post something, I was blessed to run across Stephanie’s amazing “Sin Plays Dirty” message and Sarah’s sweet note about how God’s Word changed her perspective about this study coming to an end. I love how God provides!

Hope you are ready for a power packed final week~

Week 6~Homework and Assignments

Our word for the week is:

Oh how I absolutely LOVE this word. Do you believe that you are courageous? Do you have the courage it takes to continue to rely on God? To keep believing that you are worth all the healthy choices you’ve decided to make? To admit that boundaries keep us safe not restricted? That this time around will be different? I hope you answered with a big ole resounding “YES” to these questions!

My favorite verse on courage can be found in the book of Joshua. It’s a verse that I gave to my 2nd son when he was born. God let me know that Hayden would need that verse many times throughout his life. He let me know I would need it too. Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV) Please read that and apply it to you and your life. You have what it takes, don’t doubt that. Grab on to courage from the Lord Himself. Be strong and courageous.

Our memory verse for this week is:

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. ~ Psalm 73:26

This is a verse that strengthens me in almost any situation. God is enough. Oh how I need to remember this every day of my life!

We will continue to have side discussions about our healthy eating plans and MTC progress, but we will be moving forward in to a deeper relationship with the Lord. We will continue to supply support, encouragement, and accountability as we continue to focus on studying and learning God’s Word. AUH begins March 25, 2012.

Check the Online Bible Studies Info page of this blog for all of the info! I hope you will join me! I’ll miss you if you don’t!

  1. Glad your back and feeling better. So who’s the winner? I log in all a flutter to see who won a copy (hoping one is me) and there was none, I take it your making us wait til later? Building the anticipation…

  2. Sarah Humes says:

I have tried to read MTC about 25 times, but I have never finished….but as I have skimmed over these last four chapters, I can not believe the most amazing tidbits God had Lysa tuck in there!!! I’m so excited, and feel so blessed. My devotional should be here early next week to help me keep on the good fight. (BTW: Praise the Lord, I lost 16 pounds over this Bible study!!!!!)
My Untrouble Heart book arrived over the weekend! Woo Hoo!
I’m looking forward to studying the word courage. I have never thought of myself as courageous before, but every step forward I take in this battle really does require a lot of courage. I’m looking forward to seeing what God had planned in the next few days!
Love and Blessings to all my Bible Study Friends! :)

  3. I like what Lysa says in Chapter 16, “I am NOT on a diet. I’m on a journey with Jesus to learn the fine art of self-discipline for the purpose of holiness.” (pg 158)

I also what she quotes from Dr. Chilton, “Your willpower is in constant battle with your genes and your calorie-excessive environment. Often your best efforts are no match for your genes and environment which is why so many diets fail so miserably…Willpower alone is not enough to bring about this change; start by realizing that you cannot do this alone. If you are a person of faith, use that connection to help you change.” (pg 163)

I’ve learned so much more reading this book a 2nd time, and am relying more on His power to get through each day. I’m NOT on a diet…I’m on a spiritual journey!

So thankful you are feeling better, Melissa!! 😀

  4. Melissa!!! Thank you for all you do!!! HUGS! Reading this book again in an OBS was truly what I needed to actually “get it”!! There is no question in my mind that I do have “it” now!!!!

  5. Hi Melissa! Glad you are better! In my catching up last week, I actually got ahead. It is amazing what God can teach us even the second time through the book. :)

  6. I am very excited, yet sad, for this closing week. God has taught me much, and I didn’t even realize it until I sat down with my counselor this last week.

I think I am most excited this week for the word: courageous. I was just telling my husband last night that I was scared for the week. I had another bad day last week, compulsively binge eating, and it made me feel like I had gotten nowhere. I’m working on standing again, and this word really struck that cord with me that I can stand. God did not give me the spirit of fear, but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of SOUND MIND. Let us take on just today and live in courage of the positive choices we make today instead of seeing the week and wondering if we’re going to make it. I haven’t the last two weeks and bombed it big time at the end of each one….BUT GOD…….is the strength of my heart and my portion FOREVER! So STAND and take courage, because God is with me in this day….and the next when it comes.

Wow! I’m eating my own words here. :)

  7. I am EMPOWERED because I have the DETEMINATION to crave God and become who God called me to be. I have PEACE because I know the TRUTH and only focus on what is BENEFICIAL! I will live all that I’ve learned COURAGEOUSLY! I’ve got the POWAH!!!

  8. I felt moved to share this song and video with this study group as this Bible study is coming to an end. Enjoy!
    Remember You’re Beautiful!!

  9. Hi Melissa! I am FINALLY able to write a comment. (This is my first one.) I just wanted to say “thank you.” I am so thankful you chose to do this Bible Study. I read “Made to Crave” for the first time around last April. I flew through it! I was SO excited to FINALLY feel understood. At the time, I felt like I retained it, however, I now see that taking my time is most beneficial. Doing this Bible Study allowed me to read and really process the truths this book holds. I participated in the reflection questions and also looked up every verse in my Bible. I loved all the encouraging emails. I just feel SO relieved. *Tear* Not because the scale has dramatically dropped, or I now only crave God and carrots! LoL I am relieved because I have replaced the enemy’s lies with new truthS. I am relieved because I now feel better mentally and emotionally than I have in a LONG time (and as someone diagnosed with a mood disorder that is HUGE). I feel empowered! I plan to continue with the action plan and the devotional. Thanks for the inspiration!Just wanted to express my thoughts. :) God Bless!
