Week 3, I Used to Be So Organized

by Melissa Taylor

Dear Organized Friends,  (you are getting organized, right? Smiles.)

First let’s all stand up and clap clap clap for our awesome Week 2 leader, Heather Bleier!!!!  yay! clap clap clap clap!!!!   Whooo Hooo!!!  Great job Heather, thank you SO MUCH!!!!  Your check is in the mail! hahaha I wish! Seriously, thank you for leading us. You left me with a tough act to follow!

Organized Friends, how are you today?  I hope you have had a great weekend!  I’ve been out of town at a Lacrosse Tournament in Greensboro, NC with my son, Hayden and daughter, Hayley Grace. While I love traveling and watching my son play, I dislike splitting up the family. It can be a little chaotic. This book has really helped me put all our activities in perspective, especially when many things don’t get done due to all of our crazy schedules. Chapter 5, Setting Realistic Expectations for Yourself was awesome for where my life is right now. I’m not Super Woman, and I’m ok with that.

So far, I have LOVED Section Two: Finding a Balanced Approach to an Ordered Life in our book!  Chapters 4 & 5 really spoke to so many of us.  Just hold on, Chapters 6 & 7 will impress you just as much…if not more.

In Chapter 6 we will learn about the importance of Establishing Priorities and in Chapter 7, Understanding the Whys of Disorganization. (I personally cannot wait to find out WHY I am so unorganized!)

Are you ready?  Here we go Week 3!

Memory Verse:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.    Romans 12:2 NIV

I love this verse. It all starts in the mind. We will be discussing this verse during the week, so I won’t say much right now.  This verse will carry us through both chapters 6 & 7.

Week 3 Assignments:

Sunday:  Prepare your heart and mind for a new week.  Decide now when you will work on your Bible study during the week.  If there is a special father in your life, wish him a Happy Father’s Day!

Monday:  Read Chapter 6, Establishing Priorities.  Read and begin to memorize Romans 12:2, our memory verse. Stop by my blog, MelissaTaylor.org for a message to kick start your week!

Tuesday: Review Chapter 6, practice your memory verse, and check in at our gathering place, my blog, MelissaTaylor.org .  (Did everyone but me know you don’t need the www in front of a web address anymore?  My son shared that with me a few days ago. “Mom, really, you didn’t know that?”  ~ Uh, no.)

Wednesday:  Read Chapter 7, Understanding the Whys of Disorganization. Practice Romans 12:2. Do you know it yet?  Almost?  Stop by my blog, MelissaTaylor.org, I have plenty to say about why I think I’m unorganized! I want to hear from you too!

Thursday: How are you doing?  Need a catch up day?  You got it!  Take this day to reflect on Chapter 6 & 7 or get caught up with your reading.  Stop by my blog, MelissaTaylor.org. I want us to talk a little more about why __________. Plus I want to share a free conference call with you!

Friday: It’s Friday with Glynnis Whitwer!  Yay!  Visit Glynnis today for your “home” work assignment. I can’t wait to see what she has for us this weekend!

***A look ahead~ Our first conference call takes place Monday, June 25th with author, Glynnis Whitwer!  It’s not too late to sign up! Click here for details. I hope you’ll join us!

So, are you ready for another great week reading I Used to Be So Organized?  Say yes, because it’s here! Thank you friends for studying with me!  Please comment often, I love getting to know you and hearing about how God is working in your life, plus we can all learn from each other. That’s how communities work!

Big Hugs!

Heather was such a blessing last week. She definitely deserves three cheers if not more. However, you are never far from our prayers and our thoughts. We missed you!

I’m excited for the week to come. The next two chapters will be challenging but, in a great way! We need to make our priorities line up with His will. And, we can not do so if we don’t get in the Word, journal and pray that He will direct our steps in the process. My favorite part of the memory verse is that His will is always good, pleasing and perfect. I know that my will is usually none of those things :)

Looking forward to a great week and grateful that I am able to spend today with my father. Never thought I would even be home a week ago so I’m praising God that for this gift! Enjoy the time with your family Melissa-a priority that many abuse. Love your heart and your faithfulness to that which God has entrusted to you. Have a great Father’s Day!

Ditto what Kristi said! Heather was awesome! But we did miss you, Melissa! I continue to be amazed at the timing of this study for me… and the verse for the week…. Can’t wait to read Chapter 6 and 7!!

I did not receive any of this. I had signed up I thought. But i went to the web page on the internet to get this. Did I do somthing wrong on signing up?

Stephanie Clayton June 17, 2012 at 8:28 pm

Jeanette, you might try signing up again. Perhaps the email address was one letter off or something. Also, I think there is a confirmation email you have to click the link on to confirm your email subscription to the study emails. Hope that helps!

Melissa! So excited for week 3!!!! And Heather, loved last week!

I can really relate to the section “Set Aside Time to Think” in Ch. 5. I did that the other day and it was AmAzInG!! I actually shut my laptop down (so I wasn’t tempted to check FB every time I walked by it). I set aside some time to devote to this study, “A Confident Heart” study, and my premarital counseling study. The TV was off and I was completely alone. It was such a beautiful and peaceful evening. I loved it and I felt so relaxed when I went to bed!

Tiffany, I’m so proud of you. TV is a big addiction to my life and it’s hard to get rid of it. Keep up the good work and pray that I can get off the TV. Blessings to all.

Heather did do a great job last week. I called my dad tonight. He was my birth dad, but did not raise me. I found him 21 1/2 years ago after I had my son Brandon, who is now 22. It has been an interesting relationship. He has grown up so much.

Melissa, I am really enjoying this study. When it started (actually before it started), I told you I’ve never finished one of these. Well, I plan to finish this one. I’m learning so much and having such a great time with it, I find that I can’t wait for my book study time each day. Looking forward to this coming week,

I’m so excited. I read ahead a bit tonight, because I know I have a super busy week coming up. But, I have to say, I love how Glynnis makes this feel do-able. And God honoring. Establishing priorities was a wonderful chapter. I loved the questions to ask when we are weighing our options. But, I believe it was in the “whys” chapter, I loved the challenge of completing things. If you only knew how many folded, but not put away baskets of laundry are around my house (at least 4 or 5!)…so that is my goal for the week…finishing things I start! :)

Week 2 with Heather was indeed great – clap, clap, clap.

Looking forward to this week with you Melissa. Can’t wait to tackle the assignments with the group.

Melissa, thanks so much for giving us an overview of the week. That really helps motivate me to keep up with the study and to understand time requirements. I look forward to this week. Thank your son for me also. I was not aware that www was universally omitted from the URL.

I’m both compusively creative, and a chronic people-pleaser which just means my house is littered with the carcasses of creations half-done and abandoned because I’m completely over-committed in every corner of my existance. I am notorious for uttering the phrase “there was no one else to do it, and I wanted to help” This study came along when I needed it the most! Thanks so much for the memory verses, outlines, and encouragement!!! I’m so excited to be doing this study :D

I am doing the happy dance today. I received my book and am starting on Chapter 6 today. I will use the catch up day to read the past chapters and take notes. I just wanted to let ya all know why I was so quiet, look out I have some catching up to do- just kidding Melissa I’ll post to my blog so not to over whelm ya all.
