Surprise Saturday!

by Melissa Taylor

One of our Online Bible Study Ladies is SO EXCITED about our conference call series coming up, that she called the Proverbs 31 Office and said,

“These conference calls are SO GOOD, HELPFUL, AND INSPIRING that we need to make sure that as many ladies as possible sign up. I don’t want anyone to miss these! I’ve been in the OBS conference call series for 3 studies (this is my 4th) and they are my favorite part of the study! I want to donate 5 conference call gifts!”

And that’s exactly what she did. She paid for 5 conference call series so that 5 of you could participate. How sweet and amazing is that? Plus I think it says a lot about the quality of these calls.

Now I don’t usually blog on Saturday, but this lady was so excited that she got me all excited too.  After talking with her and hearing her heart, we decided together that we would give these calls away as a “Surprise Saturday” give away. (and yes I’m aware I posted this on Friday afternoon…I couldn’t wait!)

Many will enter. 5 will win.  Here’s what you must do:

1. Write one of the memory verses we’ve had in the first 3 weeks.

2.  Name our main Online Bible Studies Leader.

3.  Name all of the guests in this conference call series. Hint: Check here.

That’s it!  Easy huh?

You only have until Saturday at 10:00 pm to do this. Winner will be announced bright and early Sunday morning!

Thank you so much to my friend who so generously gave so this could be possible. You rock and are changing the world for the Lord.

Big Super Blessings to all of you!

***Edit:  Our original generous donor inspired 3 more ladies to give 5 calls. So now 20 conference call series’ will be given away!!  Y’all I am amazed, excited, and speechless. It’s like loaves and fishes!!!  Make sure you comment by responding to the requirements posted above by 10:00 pm Saturday night!

Romans 12:2 Do not confirm any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve God’s will is, his good and pleasing perfect will.
Coincidentally, this is my life verse.

WOW, This is so great, so much generousity! I love these Bible studies & all the ladies in them. The conference calls are AMAZING. This is my 5th study with Melissa & the calls are truly a gift from God. I can’t tell you how much I have gained from hearing these calls, & sometimes even on the exact nights that I’ve been struggling with something that has been covered in the call. That’s the greatness of it! You will love the calls. Melissa does a fantastic job with them! I love being able to download them to your computer so I can listen to them again anytime after that. I have all of the calls from all 5 studies on my computer.

I have been learning SO much from this study and it is truly amazing to me what I am figuring out about how I sort my priorities. I have a peace right now that I haven’t had in a long time and we are only up to Chapter 7! I appreciate the commentaries from Melissa and Heather and Glynnis. Please enter me for the conference call giveaway.

1) I have enjoyed all of the memory verses, but I am choosing “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”~ I Samuel 16:7b I am way too guilty of judging people or situations without knowing the stories behind them and I really need to work on this.

2) Our Bible Study leader is Melissa Taylor and I think she is doing a great job!

3) The speakers for the conference calls are:
Glynnis Whitwer
Eileen Koff
Heather Bleir
Shephanie Clayton
Angie Combs

Thank you to those who have donated these calls!

1) Romans 12:2
The Message (MSG)
Romans 12

1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Thank you to Melissa Ross Taylor (our main online bible study leader) for all her hard work. Thank you to Lisa Kramp and Donna Bostick for leading the Facebook group (#5). Thank you Heather Bleier (Conference call speaker) for your insight while Melissa was out with family during week 2. Thank you to Glynnis Whitwer (Conference call speaker) for your wonderful book that has spoken directly to me through out the first 7 chapters.

I hope that I win because I would really enjoy hearing what all of the conference call speakers (Glynnis Whitwer, Eileen Koff, Heather Bleier, Stephanie Clayton, and Angie Combs) have to say. I know that they will bring a message that will touch everyone on the call regardless if I win or not. Various ones have brought uplifting and encouraging messages to me through their daily bible devotions from Proverbs 31 Ministries, through their blogs, and through this bible study.

My favorite memory verse so far has got to be Romans 12:2 — Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed but the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — His good, pleasing, and perfect will.

What a needed study for me and with the conversation about the power of the conference calls, I don’t think that I can stand not being a part of it :) Thanks to those with the generous gift-of-calls given.
Our main leader is Melissa Taylor. My fav verse is: “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” I Sam 16:7b. The conference call ladies are: Glynnis Whitwer, Eileen Koff, Heather Bleier, Stephanie Clayton and Angie Combs.
For the verse, I think the hardest thing for me is to get ego out of the way: I have shut others out (not intentionally of course), because of a fear of not being good enough, smart enough, pretty enough. I am learning that I don’t have to “do it all”, and that I should be about being faithful, not favored. Looking forward to insight and inspiration.

What I Learned About the Study of Romans 12:2 Amazed Me!

Do not be conformed to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is…His good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

I think I finally got it down. :) But more importantly, I understand what He is letting us know. I use to look at this scripture and think that it referred to our actions. It does in a way, but our actions are guided by our thoughts.

Growing up, are minds process all the things we experience. Our thoughts are formed through those experiences. It is a pattern of this world (our experiences in the world) that formed those thoughts. satan has been using our hurts and pains to form the way we think and to rob us of joy.

If you think negative thoughts, you will be negative and if you think positive thoughts, you will be positive. However, satan will come in and try to use our past experience by whispering negatives into our thoughts. “God could never love me” “God must be angry with me” “I always fail” “I did it again…I’m so stupid”. These are all lies and if you allow these thoughts to be truths in your life, they will be. But it isn’t how God looks at you. He is not surprised or shocked at anything you do. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us that when He was forming you in the womb, He knew you.

So if God isn’t holding anything against you, why do you? It’s the way your mind was shaped by your past experiences. So, do not be conformed to these thoughts. Allow God to change those thougts to His thoughts. Allow Him to transform your thoughts by the renewing of your mind. Once your thoughts are in align with who He says you are, you will be able to know His will for you. And what a good, pleasing and perfect will it is!!!

This is what I learned while studying my memory verse. When I was younger, I thought memorizing scripture was just getting to know the words of a particular verse. I knew it would be a tool to help others. I am understanding now, that it is for my benefit too. I’m not just here to be his tool to be used for the good for other people. I will transform the negative thoughts that I am not someone God loves and takes delight in. These are thought patterns I developed through past pains and wounds. He loves me…ME! He loves me! I know that satan is sneaky..I will not let him control my thoughts! I will stay in God’s word and listen to His truths until I find His will for me. It’s such an exciting thought…now that’s a positive thought!

Thank You Lord for loving me just as I am. Thank You for understanding me. I’m so sorry that I allowed satan to control my thoughts. Thank You for forgiving me. Thank you for the armor that You provide to battle back. Your words are a powerful weapon against him and he has no power over me because I know You! Please guide me to Your will Lord, Your good pleasing and perfect will! Love You Lord with all my heart! Amen
