Checking In and She Speaks Fun

Just a quick note to check in on you?  I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.

In my last blog post, I asked you to share if you were feeling down and encourage others if you were feeling up. You were wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing your heart, giving pep talks, and praying for your sisters.  Your words were so encouraging.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your break and are getting ready for another great week of organization in Online Bible Studies.    We tackle some useful info next week like the kitchen and meal planning :)  Fun stuff ahead!  The lessons will be posted MONDAY MORNING.

This week, I’m at the Proverbs 31 She Speaks Conference and having a great time!  700 women have all gathered to work on their speaking and writing skills and we’ve managed to work a lot of fun in as well.

One of the greatest things about this conference is getting to meet in person so many awesome ladies that I’ve met in online studies.  Here are a few snapshots from our time together:

Author, Glynnis Whitwer with some of the "Organized" online study ladies

OBS Party in Room 415~So fun! Look at sassy Wendy Blight there in the middle!

Confident Heart Author, Renee Swope joined the party too! She's here with Lelia, Veronica, and Suzanne.

Yay! We finally meet beautiful Heather Bleier for the first time in person! Here are Angie Combs, Heather, and Melissa.

OBS Team~ Heather, Veronica, Donna, Kristi, and Stephanie.

Working the Online Bible Studies/Gather & Grow Table at She Speaks with my bestie! Partners in crime, and online Bible study, Melissa and Stephanie Clayton. She's also my roommate this weekend! So fun :)

I guess I should go now. It’s 12:40 am and time to sleep.  Big day ahead.

Love & Hugs to each of you!

Time For A Pep Talk From Your Sisters

Ok, y’all hear me out.

I’ve been the leader of many Bible study groups. As the leader, I believe it is my job to pray, lead and encourage. I also believe it is my job to bring out these qualities within the group. Today, I want to challenge those of you who are in a place to pray, lead, and encourage others in the group to do just that.

Let me explain:

I read through your comments. I’ve received emails and Facebook messages.  I even received a phone call asking for prayer.  Sweet sweet friends. Take a deep breath~you are right where you are supposed to be.

When we sign up for a Bible study, I think we all have this new excitement and built up anticipation. We have a new hope that something in our lives is about to change for the better. We start off with will power, motivation, and determination. And we end up in one of three places:

The Good Place where good things begin to happen:

*We learn about God in a way we never expected. Our eyes are opened and we see life through His eyes. We trust a little more.

*We meet new friends and gain a whole new support system.

*We learn we aren’t alone in our struggles.

*We learn the power of the Word of God.

*We apply new tools to help us in our lives.

*We may not be anywhere near perfect (or organized!), but we are loved by our Creator!  Our God loves unconditionally, forgives, redeems, restores…He is amazing, wonderful, powerful, awesome, mighty, and great. We can surrender to Him everything and in return receive peace, despite what’s going on in our life. Despite being organized or caught up in Bible study.  We know this about God.

The Unfortunate Place where unfortunate things happen:

*We get behind in our Bible study.

*Through circumstances beyond our control, we just can’t keep up.

*We don’t get “organized” like we imagined we would.

*We forget to check the blog for assignments or forget to read our books.

*We can’t seem to memorize our weekly verse, some don’t even try.

*We aren’t spending time in prayer or God’s Word.

*The study moves too fast…the study moves too slow. (yep, heard both)

The Bad Place where bad things happen:

*We listen to the wrong voice and begin to get down on ourselves.

*For sure, we aren’t as good as others in the group.

*We beat ourselves up because we aren’t in God’s Word like we should be.

*We scold ourselves because we made a commitment in the beginning, but for some reason we aren’t keeping it. “I’m lazy.”   “What’s wrong with me?”   “I’m so mad at myself.”   “I can’t believe I’m failing again.”  (these are just a few of the words I’ve heard from this group)

*We look at our junk, clutter piles, mind chaos, or crazy calendars and automatically decide we can’t change. Nope, not this time anyway.

*We quit.
It is my prayer that you see yourself in the good place group. But I know from hearing from you that many have adapted the unfortunate or bad place thoughts and it breaks my heart.  I don’t want anyone to get down during this study. It’s okay to realize changes that you may need to make and be honest about it, but you also need to give yourself grace. Definitely don’t allow any choice or lack of change to define you.

It’s time for a pep talk ladies and this is where I need help from the group.  There are some of our sisters who are just down right now and they need to hear an encouraging word. They need prayer. They need their sisters in Christ to cheer them on.  Think you can help them?  Are you up for being the body of Christ in action?

If you are down, tell us.  Without writing a book (haha) let us know how you are doing. Be honest.  If you are struggling, please share so those who are not can have the opportunity to give you a pep talk filled with truth!

This is what Jesus girls do for each other. We keep it real and we build each other up.

I love y’all!  Thank you for sharing real life on my blog and in this study. That’s what it’s all about.

Big Hugs and Blessings!
