Important Unglued Study Info~Read This and Respond

by Melissa Taylor

This is the same post from Wednesday, but it’s SO IMPORTANT I’m posting it again. Make sure you read this before the study begins on Sunday!

Dear Unglued Online Bible Study Friends,

Hey!!! It’s almost time to begin and I have some very important information to make sure you get the most out of this study!

PRINT OR SAVE THIS! Just FYI, I will be posting this Wednesday and Friday. So you will see it twice or more. It’s that important.

I can hardly contain myself.  I’M SO STINKIN’ EXCITED!!!  Yes I know all caps means I’m yelling and I am. I’m dancing too!  We’ve been talking about it for so long and now it’s almost time.

This email/blog post is VERY IMPORTANT if you are participating in the Online Bible Study (OBS).  Please read each and every word.  Then in the comment section, let me know you’ve read this and understand. If you don’t understand, ask your question(s) in the comment section. An OBS team member or I will reply, so make sure you check back.

If you are receiving this via Email, you can get to my blog and comment by clicking here.

Unglued Online Bible Study

What You Must Know

1.  The study takes place at http://melissataylor.org.  This is your #1 source of information. All other outlets, such as Facebook and Twitter are just options. The study is not run on Facebook and you do not have to have Facebook or Twitter to do this study. Only my blog.  You may hear me refer to FB and Twitter on occasion, I use them as supplements and free options for more interaction.

2.  Every Sunday, beginning September 23rd, the Unglued Suggested Assignments for that week will be posted at  http://melissataylor.org .  You can give yourself a reminder to check my blog daily or sign up to receive my blog via email. This sign up is different than signing up for the Unglued Bible Study.  Look UNDER my picture in the right column. You should see a place to subscribe to my blog posts via Feedburner or Email. I suggest email. That way the study will always come to you and you don’t have to remember to come to it. It is up to you to check for the weekly assignments. If you have ANY problems understanding how to do this, just ask.   (There is no certain time of day that you have to check my blog, check it at your convenience. That’s the beauty of an online study!)

3.  There will be useful content on my blog pertaining to the Unglued study all during the week. I highly encourage blog participation. This is where worldwide community takes place. There will be homework and study ideas, memory verse suggestions, discussion questions, video messages, and opportunities for anyone who blogs about Unglued to share their blog post weekly.  You have to visit my blog daily or subscribe to the posts (see #2) in order to access everything the study offers.

4.  You must have the Unglued book in order to participate in this Online Bible Study. We will be using the book. You will not need any other Unglued materials at all, but you do need the book.  You can order or pick up the book almost anywhere books are sold. We have plenty here at Proverbs 31 Ministries. Click here to purchase Unglued. (note: If you ordered other Unglued materials, you will LOVE them. Use them for personal use to enhance this study.)

5.  Other items that will be helpful for this study:  a Bible, a notebook, pen or pencil, highlighter  (If you do not or can not get a Bible, please email MelissaTaylorQuestions@gmail.com)

6.  You will get out of this study exactly what you put in to it. As your Bible Study Leader, I will be encouraging you to keep up with our schedule (2 chapters per week) by carving out a specific time to work on Bible Study. Make this study a priority. You signed up. To me that means you are making a real comittment to this study. You can do this!  Make this a priority in your life. You are worth it! And you won’t regret it!

7. Online Bible Study Archives~ If you ever miss a few days or miss a post, have no fear. Every part of this study on this blog is saved in our archives. Just below the Proverbs 31 Ministries logo in the right column, you will see “Online Bible Study Archives.”  Click “Unglued” and you will find all posts pertaining to this OBS. Practice and make sure you understand this now.

8.  Our OBS Team wants to hear from you. There are many ladies who work behind the scenes to make sure this all comes together. Please share with us in the comment section during the study. We love to hear from you and it lets us know we aren’t alone. We desire real life community. We need you. You are a valuable part of this OBS.

I read the post straight through. all sounds good. I just so happened to have bought the book, participants guide & DVD about a week & a half ago, making it next on my list to read. This sounds like the perfect time to do just that & dive in with other sisters-in-Christ. =)

Dear God, In Jesus’ Name, I thank you for this day and for giving me another chance to work on my imperfections. Lord, I pray that You will help me fight off the temptations of laziness when it comes to studying Your Word. I pray that You would speak to me personally through this study to see the areas in which I need to grow and change. I pray that You would continue to help mold me into a more effective person–one filled with honesty, truth and grace–to know what to say and when to say it. To know when to speak and when to be quiet. I pray for self-control–to gain self-control in my words and my actions. I want to get the most out of this study that I possibly can! God, I pray for each person who has committed to this study, that they will strengthen a more personal bond with You–that they will grow closer to You in all areas of their life. Thank You so much for giving Lysa this book and allowing her to complete it and share it with all of us. Thank You for speaking through her to teach us new truths about ourselves. Thank You for all of the dedicated leaders You have annointed to guide us through. Please protect them from the enemy. I pray that their leading would encourage us and give us all new hope! Thank You, God. In Jesus’ Holy Name, I pray…Amen!

I’ve Read the instructions, and Read the First Chapter…again…I had read it first when I received my book (I just couldn’t wait). I love how real Lysa is! I love that I can relate to the freak out about the towesl…I so have those freak outs where people look at me like I’ve lost my mind! I’m so thankful for this book, this study, and God’s unending Grace as I keep running this race with perseverance. it is truly imperfect Progress. Thankful for Our Perfect God and Savior!

Got it and understand it! I am so excited about this study!
Can’t wait to see what God reveals. Thank you so much for offering this study! I’ve been wanting something like this for a long time. It’s finally here and to share the book with others and obtain others insight is just a blessing! It’s so comforting to know that others are in the same boat as I am and I am not alone in my struggles.

The dog throwing up at the beginning of Chapter 2 really hit home for me!…
my situation might be a liitle different than most, but ive come to realize that nobody has the perfect home situation. My hubby and son aren’t christians and dont go to church and my daughter and I are, and do. I actually am a worship leader, so needless to say i am very involved. My hubby recently agreed to do a biblestudy at home just the 4 of us. (this is a huge turn in our lives, but trying to keep this story short.) We just had our first Bible study this past Sunday. I thought this was a little ironic since it’s the same Sunday that we started this study. when we got done with the study I prayed. my daughter commented she like my prayer voice. in that moment I realize that was the first time that we had prayed together as family, and the first time that my children have ever heard me talk to God outside of the church. I had an unglued moment the day before with our dog when she kept acting like she wanted to go outside didn’t really want to go. after my daughter made her comment my son said yeah that’s different then “if you don’t shut up, we’re going to lock you in the closet!” referring to the incident the day before about the dog. for me it made me realize that I really need to start talking to others especially those who I love the most in my family like I talk to my father in heaven.

Alicia September 25, 2012 at 8:19 pm

I have read and understand the information.

Laura September 25, 2012 at 8:21 pm

I have been struggling with one of your questions, Melissa, and decided that I need to share my answer to it the most.
4. Do you trust God? Why or why not?
I struggle with trusting God. It is something I am constantly battling with myself about. I had a childhood that went from one nightmare to the next one. I waiver between blaming God to feeling abandoned by Him. Most of the time, I don’t have these thoughts or feelings, but then there are times where something happens or something is said to me, and it sets these feelings off. I have been doing the “baby steps” for this issue. I am making myself trust Him a little more each day. And I am making progress with this. I am seeing Him take care of the smaller issues in my life, and also placing people and situations in my path that help me out. (Such as this study group) He has given me a wonderful mentor in the minister’s wife, who lives behind me. Soon I will be moving to a larger home, which we need. And He also saw to it that it was next door to another wonderful Christian lady. And I am reminding myself constantly, that He saw to it that I did have a safe place in my childhood to go when things got bad. (My grandparent’s house.) So I guess the correct answer for me is, not totally, but I am getting there.

christina September 30, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Laura, thanks for sharing i will be praying for you.

Debbie September 26, 2012 at 11:51 am

christina September 30, 2012 at 2:41 pm

learning through the ways of takeing things in new perspectives also in my new patterns of thinking. recently there have been bad kids in the neiborhood that have making comments to my kids who are half their age. i myself have really much would like to do and say unmentionable things. well the thoughts in mind were working like i could see what would would have happened well short story… i just gather my things bite my tounge and left. ugh! Well i feel much better but saddened that some parents are careless of theirkids whereabouts and teaching them of respect.
