Greater, Week 1

What would you think if someone said to you, “Dream Bigger. Start Smart Smaller. Ignite God’s Vision For Your Life.”

I’m going to be honest. I would think, “That sounds great…for you maybe. But I’m afraid to dream big. My dreams don’t seem to fully become reality. I’m ok with that. I’ve learned to settle.”

As I write honestly, I also remember what I KNOW. I may not be able to make my dreams come true. But I have a great big God living within me. I believe in Him. And I believe His Word. So therefore, the truth is, all things are possible with God. Because of this, I can confidently dream big.

Are you ready to live by this possibility? I pray you are, because that’s what Greater is all about. Believe it people. Choose to believe it and dive into this Bible study with all your heart. With all your mind. With all your ability. With your Great Big God, Who is ready to ignite His vision for your life. All He needs to make this happen is you!

For those of you who are new to this OBS (Online Bible Study), each week I’ll post the full week of assignments on Sunday. This way you will have the week’s assignments all in one place. But I hope you won’t just come here on Sunday. Each day discussion and interaction concerning Greater and the chapters/message/application will take place. It’s so important for you to participate here. We need your participation to make this a lively thriving community. That’s why this OBS is so special. It’s because of you. Please join me and share how God is working in you throughout this study.

The most important thing you can do as we get started is to make Bible study a priority in your life. No excuses. Just do it. Life is busy and things will compete for your time. Make the decision now that you will do this. Plan your time of study. This is the best advice I can give you. This study can change your life, but only if you make the time to do it. :)

Other Study Options~

Reflection Verse~ I want to empower you and encourage you to really meditate and reflect on God’s Word during this study. Each week, you will be given a verse. Read it. Look it up in your Bible. Study it. Learn it. God’s Word is the foundation of all we do in this study. Without it, we have nothing but words. With it, we have a new life.

Now that you’ve read through what Week 1 will look like, I’m going to ask you again~ What would you think if someone said to you, “Dream Bigger. Start Smart Smaller. Ignite God’s Vision For Your Life.”  ?????  Are you ready for Greater?

  1. GREATER is going to rock my world I can tell already! The last study UNGLUED came into my life at just the right time and was instamental in healing some very unlovely places in my marriage. When I viewed the pod cast of Pastor Steve announcing that GREATER would be offered as the next online study I got a stirring in my spirit that it would be extreamly useful for me yet I had not even started the UNGLUED study at that time. So I filed that under “Later” and moved on, well. . .Last week as I read the 1st Chapter of GREATER God convicted me of the fact that I was not ever going to do greater things if I did not trust others and start to get more involved with serving right where I am planted. So I went up to the church that day and told the Pastor I had been wrong to not be of service to the kingdom. I have been a Christian since 1976 and I know better but since we moved back to Illinois I just had been spiritualy lazy and a bit afraid of trusting new people again. I also knew I needed to get myself out of a very negative and stressful job situation but my husband’s job contract is presently in jeapordy so I was playing it safe and not listening to Gods urging to quit. Boy oh boy God sure makes me laugh!! He knows me so well and I guess He knew I needed a spiritual 2X4 hit over my head to leave the “golden handcuffs” as I jokingly call my job. So believe it or not the day after I spoke with my Pastor I had a medical issue that causes me be unavailable for work for an undetermind amount of time and when I told my boss I did not know when if ever I would return. I had a huge burden lifted off my shoulders and peace like a river flowed through me. So now as I recover I can start helping at the church little by little which will give my gifts and talents a place to grow. As Pastor Steve said in GREATER, I know I am meant for more and I had allowed myself to be lulled into complacency. I found myself miserable in a job I hated and living in spiritual mediocrity. I was attending church but had been living in complacency and yes my heart as well as my spirit was shriveling and my dreams of being used of God for the furthering of the kingdom of God seemed like a far distant dream. My Mom recently died and my own mortality was in my face and I knew I needed to step up and put myself in position to get outside myself and be part of something greater before I found myself at the end of my life with a pile of regrets! I have no expectations what that means right now but I am trusting all that to God! I am confident nothing is impossible for God and I know I am going to be prayerfully seeking where and when and what steps He wants me to take to be used. I am going to be couragous enough to go wherever He says to go and do what He says to do and then wait and see what greater adventures he has for me in the future, Right now it means doing this study with you all and I am ready to see what he has in store for all of us!

  2. Melissa I loved the video!! I hope you do that a lot more!! By the way I wish my behind fit on a swing! LOL

  3. Melissa, loved the video! When I truly think about being greater, I think of being called to do and believe greater! It is so easy to get stuck in medocricy and just say, “What can I do?”, but in truth we can do so much more if we just lived greater! I truly enjoyed the first two chapters, downloaded to my nook and ready for more! Thanks for inviting me on this journey!
