it is time to move forward

Chapter 11 gave us a great question to ponder as we wrap up the Let. It. Go. Online Bible Study:

LET IT GO saying

How we honestly answer this will tell us if we are ready to truly “let it go and walk in faith.”

Trying to be godly is good. Trying to be God is not.

Our reflection verse this week is a perfect reminder that we don’t have to be in control. We can actually rest and rely on God.

I will say of the LORD, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!  Psalm 91:2  (AMP)

Wednesday’s assignment presented the opportunity to really focus on God’s Word in our life. Our every day life. If you don’t do anything else this week, do this. I promise, by being engaged in God’s Word, you will be so blessed!

Thank you so much for the ladies who were willing to share their answers! All of us were so blessed by your insight and the way God’s Word spoke to you. We have 3 winners, randomly selected 3 winners from those who shared their Bible study answers. You have won a Bible to keep and a Bible to give away. Our winners are:

Raquel~email beginning raqueldailey1; Amy Smith~email beginning amysmail72; and Jennifer~email beginning jenniferroskamp.

Winners, send an email to the OBS Executive Assistant, Angie Combs. Include your mailing address and we will get your Bibles in the mail! Angie’s email is .

Ok y’all, now that we have “Let. It. Go.” it’s time to move on. Move forward to what God has in store for us next. We are walking in faith. Are you ready?

I want to invite you to join me, Proverbs 31 Ministries, and many of your OBS sisters to do our next Online Bible Study, Stressed-Less Living by Tracie Miles.  You can get information and sign up here.

So are you ready?  We’ve let it go and now let’s take the next step. Let’s move forward and learn how to live with less stress. I know I need this study! How about you? Will you join and continue with us?  I hope so!

Thank you for joining me in this study to Let. It. Go. It’s been great! I have loved spending this time with you. May God bless you and I would love to do Bible study and life with you again.

  1. Thank you so much Melissa and to all the beautiful women who lead us and blogged to encourage us. I pray that things settle at home for you all and that our great God will indeed help you and all of us to ‘Let it Go’. You are amazing and I personally thank you for contributing to my life and making an eternal difference. Know that you are uniquely and beautifully made into His image. Bless you xxx

    • Debbie Williams says:

    • Donna,
Thank you so much for your very sweet, kind, and encouraging words. I love leading Online Bible Studies at Proverbs 31 and it’s such an honor to be able to study with women like you! You have blessed me greatly today!

    • Jennifer N (OBS Leadership Team) says:

Amen! May God bless you sweet girl!

    • Karri (OBS group leader) says:

I have grown so much during this study and I know other women have too….. Melissa and the leadership team work extremely hard to spread God’s word and love. I think I can speak for many of us by saying, THANK YOU! On a personal note, I do not know where I would be without this wonderful ministry. I have made some amazing friends and found some wonderful mentors along my journey with MTOBS. I can’t wait to keep growing and moving forward with this amazing group and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for myself and everyone involved!
      Blessings and Love,
      Karri H.

  2. What an amazing study! I have learned so much about ME and my ‘character defects’! I love “Am I trying to be Godly or am I trying to be God” – if I’m honest, more than likely trying to be the GOD of my household, my family. Thankful that I will think about this each time a new situation arises. Thank you to Linda for leader video coaching, to each blogger, poster, and encourager – and for the admin and leadership teams for all you do behind the scenes to make a study like this possible!!!! I love my P31 Jesus Girls and am looking forward to the next study!!!!!

  3. I have found I am not good at doing these studies through ereaders. I start well, but finish poorly. For this next study…I already have the book! I ordered it weeks back when I read that it would be the next study.
I am so looking forward to doing this next study with book in hand. I think it will make alot of difference for my involvement.
    When does it begin?
    Thanks, Judi.

    • Debbie Williams says:

Judi I agree. I now have all the books for the rest of the year’s studies. Yes I love them. I love having that book to underline and then I take that and transcribed what I’ve underlined along with what Is on Melissa’s blog each day and print out the Pins and have a beautiful notebook. But I have to have that book for some reason that works better for me. I tried both. I just like to highlight and most times I read the chapters more than once. So glad you have the book already and ready to roll with us. Debbie W. (OBS Leader)

      • You gave me some good ideas Debbie, in what you do with your notes. Could you give me the list of books for the remainder of the years studies?

    • Jennifer N (OBS Leadership Team) says:

So glad to have you join us again! This next study starts April 7th. The next books up after this one, are:
When Women Say Yes to God by Lysa TerKeurst
A Confident Heart by Renee Swope
      Bless you!

    • Karri (OBS group leader) says:

It really does make a huge difference to have a hard copy of the book, especially when it comes to highlighting and going back for referencing.
I noticed you asked when the study begins, I am not sure if your ? has been answered yet but if not, “Sign-up to participate in the Stressed-Less Living Online Bible Study starting April 7, 2013.” Make sure you go to the top of this page and sign up :)

  4. This was an amazing study….thank you Melissa for once again obeying what the Lord is telling you. Let.It.Go – was just what I needed for this time in my life. He is showing me how important it it to just let go, and let God! To Rest in His peace. He’s got this…Thank you for being available, for asking for help when life got crazy…and for loving the Lord so doggone much! Be Blessed my Friend. I look forward to the less stress study next!!

    • Debbie Williams says:

Teresa we are looking forward to the next study too. I just look forward to relishing in His word and these studies each morning and seeing how I am growing and how my family continues to grow because of my faithfulness. So glad you will be back for the next one. I am so excited. Debbie W. (OBS Leader)

    • Thank you Teresa! You are so encouraging :) Love you friend and I’m thankful we get to do life and OBS together!

  5. This was my first OBS and I was not sure if I would like it, if I would know what to do in it. I am one who when I get home from work likes to just stay home, so not having to go out to a Bible study and being able to do it when convenient for me was awesome. I do not blog, not sure how to even set one up, but I loved reading them every week. I loved reading all the comments everyday and the conference calls were great!! I was so blessed by this study and convicted. I learned so much by the input off all the ladies who posted everyday!! The Lord new I needed this study!!! Thanks to Melissa and all who had a part in it. You are all a blessing to me!! God bless you all. Looking forward to doing the next study also. Have a great weekend everyone :)

    • Debbie Williams says:

Janet thank you. You are a blessing to P31. Like you I want to be at home at night mostly to spend time with my husband and at church, our studies are usually at night. That’s why I ended up here as a participant and now a leader. I’ve grown to love everything about the studies and this is where I learned how to do a blog. Each week there are links to learn how on the blog hop and it’s easy – really – if I can do it most anyone can. Well it is easy getting it set up, but I have to wait for God to put on my heart what to write. Thanks so much for you sweet thoughts today. Debbie W. (OBS Leader)

    • Jennifer N (OBS Leadership Team) says:

So glad you enjoyed it and will be back with us again!! God bless you!

    • God’s blessings right back to you Janet! I’m so glad you like your first OBS! Thank you for joining in this study and giving it a shot!

  6. Paige Ward says:

Thank you, Melissa for taking the time out of your life to do this study with us. I really needed this one and have learned so much from it.

God’s blessings on you and your family.

    • Paige,
I needed this too! I love doing Online Bible Studies and especially love getting to “meet” and connect with so many great ladies like you!

      Big Blessings back to you!

  7. Melissa, THANK YOU for challenging us, for being real, and for being a great example of someone who has LET.IT.GO (or is at least a work in progress). I pray the Lord will bless you and the leadership team with rest as you prepare for the next studies! <3

  8. Mary G. (OBS Group Leader) says:

I enjoyed Wednesday’s assignment so much and needed it even more! I’ve been learning to let things go throughout this study, however it is so easy to fall back into that trap of thinking I have to do it all. The enemy knows just what to use to get me off track, but I’m so thankful for this group of ladies and MELISSA to say “HELLO…what does God’s word say about your situation and how much he loves you?”

FORWARD is my “one word” in 2013 and I chose “move forward” as my motto for the year. This is a great reminder for me to keep going! Thank you!

I’ll be using the above scripture verse and the following quote that the beautiful Jennifer Newsom told me she has above her desk for encouragement as well:

My job is obedience. God’s job is results. (Unglued and Let.It.Go.)
    1 Corin. 3:6

I will ask for help when I need it and learn to delegate more at home instead of stressing myself out trying to do it ALL! I am ready, ready, ready for Stressed-Less Living!

Hope you all have a wonderful day. <3

  9. I have loved this study. Melissa your OBS has grown me so much. It’s been a blessing that this is here, and God has given us such timely books and studies. I am so honored to be leading a FB group and started a small group at our church with the Unglued study. God has stretched me and moved me in a direction I didn’t expect to go, but am loving it! I have met amazing women and learned so much from their insight, but more than that, I have felt Christ’s love through the women in these groups and studies. Thank God that He led me to Proverbs 31 and the OBS!

  10. amy black says:

  11. Lauren B (OBS Group Leader) says:

Once again another awesome Study ~ which means Stressed Less Living is going to Rock!

Let.It.Go was so powerful and eye-opening! Thank you Karen Ehamn, for writing this book and being involved in our study on it <3

Thank You Melissa Taylor, for your blogs and time each day. For leading us, encouraging us, and Believing in us and mostly for Listening to God's calling <3 Love you Beautiful Lady!

Of Course thank you Lisa Kramp ~ all I have to say to Lisa is Lady you are AWESOME and so loved!

Thank you to all the Beautiful Ladies on the Leadership Team ~ this is an awesome journey we are on together! I pray that more Ladies will be lead to OBS by God and experience what we all have so far!

Our God is so Powerful, Awesome and Loving <3

  12. Thank so much for this study & for introducing me to this book! I have learned so much about myself through this & strive to let it go (daily at times)! :)

    • Christa H.(OBS Small Group Leader) says:

So glad you enjoyed it, Melanie! I hope you’ll join us for the next study!

  13. Melissa & Team- I wanted to list other names but I didn’t want to leave anyone out. Thank you SO much for following God’s lead and forming these Bible studies. I’m so excited to see how God is growing us… how He is growing you, and using you for His kingdom. So happy that I could be a small part of it.
Thank you, Karen, for being a willing vessel and sharing so much of your life. I don’t know how you can read my mind so well, except maybe God made us women a little more alike than we think.
And for everyone who has posted on the blog, thank you for sharing. Life is better when you have real sisters living it with you, making similiar mistakes (or growth opportunities… it’s not a mistake if you learn from it, as my husband says).
Y’all rock and I am so anxious for April 7th to come!!!
    Love you way big!

  14. Ginny B - OBS leader says:

A part of me is so sad to see this study completed. I have learned so much about myself and areas of my life that I need to let go of. God has really moved through this study. One of my prayers as we end is that we (meaning I) don’t let these lessons stagnate in our lives. James 1:22 tells us to do more than just hear but to do….I thank you and all of the leaders for the efforts to make sure we all hear, now we as participants need to make sure that we do. I know that this will at times be a struggle for me. Letting go is not a one time thing because it has a tendency to creep back into our lives quietly. We have to be on constant vigil and we have to stay in His Word to keep the balance.

Thanks for all you have done Melissa and team, for bringing this to us, for organizing the study, for praying for all of us and all of the other things that you do. May God bless each of you!

  15. TABITHA JONES says:

I have really enjoyed this OBS. This was my first study and I really was skeptical about doing it. I really didn’t think I would get much out of it, but that was just the devil putting those thoughts in my head. I have really learned a lot and my family can see a change in me. I was really tested Wednesday night and Thursday and I did well. Our hot water heater blew up in the house Wednesday night after we got home from church. The old me would have freaked out and would have been yelling orders out to my boys and husband. When it happened I was calm and tried to to help instead of barking orders out. My husband told me yesterday morning that something had changed about me and I just smiled. I never once got mad. Letting Go has been a blessing to me. I never realized I was as bad as I was until I did this study. God has really spoke some wonderful words to me through this study. I am really looking forward to the next study.
I have replaced my facebook obsession with my bible study obsession. It has been a wonderful blessing.
Thank you to all the wonderful leaders that lead us in this study.
I have really enjoyed meeting new friends and hope you all have a blessed weekend.

    • Christa H.(OBS Small Group Leader) says:

Satan just loves to try to convince us that we don’t need what God says we need, doesn’t he! It is so cool that your family can see a difference in you! Thanks for sharing your story!

  16. Veronica Brown (OBS Group Leader) says:

What a wonderful study! I look forward to the next study, Stress Less Living! I appreciate the time you put into choosing the the books each year and the time you use pouring into the leaders and ladies that join the online Bible studies. Love you so much and again, thank you!

  17. Amy Smith says:

I cannot say thank you enough to you, Melissa, and everyone involved with these online studies! Since I left my church home a while back, I have not had that “church family” connection in my life and I have felt the void. Early last year, I started to really feel that “tug” from God to get reconnected again. I visited several churches and even went back to my old familiar church trying to get back to where I had been. I was stuck in a place I didn’t want to be. Somehow, I stumbled onto your site and I stepped out of my comfort zone and joined a Facebook Group with a bunch of complete strangers. That was 3 studies ago! Boy was I an Unglued mess!! I now realize that I didn’t need to go back to where I had been but I needed to move forward to a new and better place! All I can say is that I serve a big God who is sovereign and faithful. He knew exactly what this girl needed to break though the restraints that the enemy had placed on me (that I had allowed to be placed on me) and He led me here. And He is not done with me yet! I have grown and matured in so many ways and I have this overwhelming excitement about our next study (and the one after that, and the next one..) Just knowing that the growth will continue is exciting. Knowing that I will grow even more closer in my relationship with Him and with people. I have a desire in my heart to bless and help others and I know that before I can really do that I have to be steady and faithful myself. I am getting there and I am enjoying this journey. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE my facebook group, so here’s a big shout out to Group 30…ya’ll rock!!!

PS. I think it is so cool that I was chosen as one of the winners of the bibles, so thank you for that, too!! *Hugs*

    • Christa H.(OBS Small Group Leader) says:

Amy, you are making me cry!! I love you, girl and we are so blessed to have you in Group 30, where our motto is Broken but Not Hopeless. You came to us broken and God has made you whole again. It has been an honor to watch the change in you. Looking forward to doing our next study (and the one after that, and the next one…) with you! :)

    • Amy,
I am both humbled and blessed by the way OBS has helped you and blessed your life! And I agree, GROUP 30 ROCKS!

  18. I thank all of you also. This study has been a Godsend :-). I am looking forward to the next!

  19. Barbara Prince says:

Melissa, thank you for loving on all of the ladies who cross you path during OBS. You are a blessing and an inspiration to us. I know that attacks have come, but God has proven Himself once again to be stronger!
    Love and prayers,
    Barbara Prince
    OBS small group 5

  20. Kara S (OBS leader) says:

I loved this study. Thanks Melissa for your wonderful leadership.

  21. This was my first online study and with Proverbs 31 ministries. I had no idea what to expect, but it was so much more than I could have ever hoped or prayed for. I feel so incredibly blessed to have stumbled across this study on FB and for have been introduced to such an inspiring and supportive group of women! God is good! Thank you Melisa, all the OBS leaders, and all who’ve participated. You have truly all touched my life and breathed new life into my walk with God! While I’m sad to see this particular journey come to a close, I look forward to new start its given me and to all the upcoming OBS’s I will equally blessed to be a part of!

    • Christa H.(OBS Small Group Leader) says:

I always love how many people say they “stumbled” across the OBS studies. God has a way of putting things in our path and not letting us get around them until we “stumble” right into them. We are thankful to have you with us, Katrina!

      • Very true Christa! I may have felt that I stumbled across it but it was all a part of His plan for sure! :-) God is good!

  22. Jennifer says:

Thank you so much for blessing me through this study. It is so amazing to be able to be part of a Bible study community without having to leave my house. I have always been envious of my friends who go to a Bible study once a week and see how it gives them a renewed spirit, but that has not been my reality once I started having kids. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of a community that I otherwise would not have been able to!

  23. I just want to echo what my sisters have said and thank you Melissa and everyone who has been participating/contributing in this study for it has blessed and refreshed my perspective and heart. Signed up for the next one 😉 God bless!

  24. Melissa, thanks for once again leading a wonderful OBS! It opened up my eyes and gave my so much to strive for in my walk with God.
Thanks to Karen for writing this book and for sharing the wonderful videos. I loved each and every one!
Thank you to the OBS Study Leaders and to all the wonderful women whose comments continue to touch my life.
God bless all of you – I can’t wait to get started on the next study!

  25. I am so thankful for yet another life-changing study! I am anxiously awaiting the start of the next one. Thank you to Melissa and all of you who take the time to make this experience meaningful.

Thank you to each person on the leadership team who reads the blogs. The comments are always thoughtful and it is encouragement to those of us who are just getting started with blogging.

I read so many amazing blogs this week and I cannot wait to do blog hop again for the next study! I will miss the study until the next one begins. :)

  26. This study has been phenomenal! I’ve so enjoyed reading the responses of others and hearing your insights, Melissa. The heartfelt desire to live for an Audience of One is so evident in every post that was presented here during this study and I was so blessed to take part in it! Can’t wait for Stress-Lessed Living!

  27. Stephanie W says:

I just finished the book!! This study has been awesome…no, better than I anticipated!! Looking forward to the next, much needed study!!

  28. Edwina Cowgill says:

Melissa, and all the ladies who facilitated,
A heart-felt thank you to each of you for a wonderful Bible study. Although I was not able to participate as fully as I would have liked due to illness (mine, my hubby’s and my dad), I still learned so much and enjoyed every chapter, video, comment–everything!
God bless each of you as you continue to live out His will for your life!

  29. Thank you again Melissa and team for letting us enjoy such an incredible study. And thank you to Karen Ehman for being bold and honest with her own struggles and convictions, and being obedient to the Holy Spirit to write these words for others. I was truly blessed and praise the Lord for the timing of this book and study.

Looking forward to the next study!!!

  30. Thank you Karen for this outstaning book and to Melissa for leading us through this study! It is the first OBS I’ve done and I have recommended this book to the other women in our church! I’m looking forward to the next study!

  31. So thankful for this study and even more thankful for what God has shown me.
I think the words of Psalm 25 are a perfect summary for me as we end this study…

    Psalm 25 (ESV)

25 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
    2 O my God, in you I trust;
    let me not be put to shame;
let not my enemies exult over me.
    3 Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
    4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
    teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
6 Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
    7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
    8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
    11 For your name’s sake, O Lord,
pardon my guilt, for it is great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
13 His soul shall abide in well-being,
and his offspring shall inherit the land.
14 The friendship[b] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord,
for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
    17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
bring me out of my distresses.
18 Consider my affliction and my trouble,
    and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider how many are my foes,
and with what violent hatred they hate me.
20 Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
    for I wait for you.
    22 Redeem Israel, O God,
    out of all his troubles.

  32. Charlotte Smith says:

I just signed up for the Stressed-Less living study and ordered the book. I work full time as a technology director. In addition, my husband, a teacher and head coach, and I have guardianship for 6 of our grandchildren ages 5 – 12. Five boys and little 5 year old Maddy. Our daughter, their mother lives with us, too, in a 3-bedroom 2 bath home, for which we are thankful, but starting to burst at the seams! Our daughter has symptoms of bi-polar and depression. We love them all, but stress is really an issue. I am so looking forward to this study!!!!!
