  1. I do this bible study and read the Proverbs 31 daily deovtionals to stay plugged in, but truthly how I stay plugged in is talking with God all throughout my day. I talk with him first thing in the morning and I just don’t stop until my head hits the pillow. Our conversations might be really serious or very simple depending on the day, but it makes a huge difference in my attitude to always be talking to Him. Thank you for this book and this study-I have a very stressful job that I cannot leave yet, but I’m learning that even though I work in a stressful environment I DO NOT HAVE TO ALLOW IT TO MAKE ME STRESSED!!! This thought was an eye opening revelation all because of this study. No more being stressed out! Thank you!!

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Jacy ~

I too am in a very stressful job that I can not leave yet either. This book has been a huge eye opener for me as well that I was allowing things to stress me out and in turn effecting my health. I too have realized that I don’t have to allow this to happen. One day at a time and with God we will succeed. Keeping you in my prayers,
      Blessings

  2. Sheila says:

I’m working on staying “plugged in”. I need to make a more sincere effort to get up earlier (a whimpy excuse) and spend quality time with God. I have written out all the verses so far and have them in my purse and a set at my desk. I was reading them at lunch breaks. But I think it might be better to pick one verse for the day and concentrate on that one. I know I’ll keep them with me eve after we are done with our OBS.

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

sheila ~ I think that sounds like a great plan one verse per day :) Heather Bleier taught us something a couple studies back in one of the conference calls, taking five minutes per hour to talk with God. If getting up early is not your thing (I hate it on the weekends) try setting a different time but take five minutes per hour to talk to God or write out a small prayer. I know it has helped me a ton. because I too don’t always feel like being a morning person.
      Blessings

  3. Teresa says:

What an amazing God We Serve…Thank you all for your blog pots, for your comments…and for speaking into my life; our lives. I Choose to Serve Him today in my office!! God Bless…

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

Amen ~ I agree we have an Awesome God.

      God Bless you

  4. I love this study and learn so much every day. The part that spoke to me in chap 5 was the analogy Tracie uses with the dashboard of a car and the warning lights and our body and the warning signals it sends. How often I ignore those signals and pay the consequences. I have alot of what she listed-high blood pressure, anxiety, heartburn-I’m 47 yrs old, when will I learn! I do good for a while, feel better and slip back into my old habits, causing everything to flare.
I keep plugged in by email encouragement from Proverbs 31, Jesus calling, 365 devotions for kids( I like the kids version, it speaks to me in a way I can better relate to my daughter)
As I verse map the reflection verse, God’s presence is always with us, when we BELIEVE that, the rest will come.

  5. Vanessa says:

I also attend bible study fellowship for extra time in God’s word. As I think about things that keep me connected to God, I have to get alone after I study and ask Him where, how, and when to apply, respond, and take action. I go to the park where it is so quit and I run or walk whole I think about what Iv read or studied and God always shows me and guides me on how to use this particular passage in my life so that I can be able to bless others lives also.

For chapter five on page 110 she said the word of God was meant to do more than penetrate it is meant to activate.

I love that one statement it is so true.. Taking action is key to obedience!!!

    Love
    Vanessa

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

I love to go to the park on my lunch break and get into the word…it helps draw me away from the stress I allow from work! And a good run oh so refreshing!

Vanessa thank you for sharing and especially reminds us on page 110…I agree with you .

      Blessings

  6. I am amazed every week at how many talented, inspirational, and intelligent women are posting!!! Every blog I read is incredibly well-written, and gives me so many thoughts and insights, and makes me feel so connected. Thank you to everyone who contributes, you are making a difference!!!

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

I love getting up early on Thursdays to read the blogs ;) I agree so much talent and inspiration here!

  7. I, too, attend an in real life Bible Study – and actually am headed there right now. This is a time of bittersweet transition for me, as I’ve been leading this lovely group of ladies for 5 years and this is my final 3 weeks with them. We are moving on to another church closer to home over the next 2 months and I find myself strangely peaceful about it all. Just a bit sad to not be able to see these faces that have helped me to stay plugged in for the past 8 years. I am blessed beyond measure by their friendship, fellowship, Godly wisdom and joy for living life as Daughters of The King. This day, on Melissa’s blog, is always a treat for me. I so look forward to reading all of the posts when I return later today!

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

I skipped my real life Bible Study this past time and I sure miss those ladies. Looking forward to the next study!

I love this study and being a part of such an amazing group of Godly women!

  8. Melanie says:

What really stuck out to me is that our hearts have to be in the right place in all situations we encounter and that no matter what have faith that God’s timing is always perfect timing, that no matter the situation He is there watching over us, stretching us, and preparing us! God is good all the time!

  9. I love the feeling I get every time I visit this site and the blogs each week. It’s the feeling of sisterhood and an overwhelming revelation that I am not alone! That in itself does so much for me that I can’t even put it into words. Thank you to all those who share each day and week. Your ability to be open and honest inspires me and allows me to do the same. God bless each one!

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Jenny

You are never alone! Love you sweet Sister in Christ <3

  10. Melissa says:

I really like this Bible study. I also do the Proverbs 31 Daily Devotional, along with Sheri Rose Shepherd’s Princess Love Letters from God. I also get Joyce Meyer emails and am subscribed to Stephanie Clayton’s blog. I read everything in the morning and throughout the day when the emails come through. These Bible studies and emails have really helped me get through some hard times. I also like listening to Joyce Meyer preaching while I am work and in the car. At work, I just plug my headphones into my computer, go on her website and find which webcast I feel like listening too. I have bought quite a few of her cd’s and listen to them in car during my commute. Hope everyone has a good day!

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Melissa ~

Did you know that Proverbs 31 also has a Radio Ministry? If you go to the website (http://www.proverbs31.org/) you can click on radio Ministry and you can either listen online or find a radio station near you that broadcast as well. You should check it out ;)

I listen to worship music at work too expect I play it our loud (no body has complained..I think they like it) I love K-love or Air one and of course my itunes. I will have to check out the webcast you spoke of

      Blessings

  11. Nancy Dye says:

I’m still reading Chapter 5 but there are many “WHOA!” sentences that cause me to put the book down and think of what God has in store for me. The following in particular are meaningful (page 100): “Fortunately there is a vaccine for this disease of stress that can not only treat the majority of the symptoms but also potentially prevent them from occurring. It is a VACCINE OF HOPE found right smack in the middle of the words of Jesus Christ.” This is the ONLY vaccination that I look forward to as I go through my daily challenges. Praise God for this OBS! This is a first of many for me.

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

Love that Nancy~ Vaccine of Hope~ This book is a big eye opener for me! Loving it

  12. Good morning ladies! This study and this site, all of you are such a gift from God to me. Amazing we can each one be where we live and still participate in this study and read others lives. So amazing that one day we will be with The Lord and all this will be behind us! And we can sit and fellowship face to face. I am currently doing the Lysa Turkhryst book : Unglued – in my Sunday School class at church. I also receive the devotionals from proverbs 31, Joni and friends devotionals and a few more. I try to do these every day. The two that I seriously work in are this one and the unglued one. I am so excited about the quiet time activity in chapter 5! Wow I already have the verses written out for my sister and will gift it to her for Mother’s Day. What a great gift! I will also be using this for myself and know I am being blessed already by God’s Word and his great unfailing love! I pray you are each blessed this day we have been given.

  13. Stephanie L says:

I think just taking those quiet moments that are few and far between as a mom and letting God know your listening. It’s easy to let your brain just think a million things, but trying to make it be still and listen for His voice is important.

  14. Carissa D. Huffman says:

I must say that the Lord is really working on me. My job gave us a workshop last night about handling stressful situations and reducing stress overall. Our presenter even mentioned that “spiritual activities” are vital to being well enough mentally to handle stressful things. Just fit with this OBS so well!

I am going to spend more time thanking God and asking for more faith, more desire for Him–He is the One who gives us all good things.

I am trying to release stressful events, rather than hanging on to anger and resentment.

Thanks, again, for these studies–they are a blessing again and again!

    Carissa in eastern Iowa

  15. I am trying to stay more “Plugged In” as I am constantly wavering in my faith. I read the emails and blogs that come through and I read daily scripture verses from Bible Gateway. I get words of encouragement from Proverbs 31 ministries and so forth. However, raising grand kids is so stressful. I can’t believe my hubby and I made it through five children. Believe me I think it was easier to raise them than the three grand kids we have living here. And they say it gets easier the second time around. lol. God is my peace and my strength. I could not make it through without Him. He leads me and holds my hand. I so want to be more Godly and a better grand mother to the children. I want to stop yelling and start being stricter in discipline. consistent is what I need to be in disciplining them so they know I mean it and when I say it, do it. I am really great at reading the Bible and the devotions and even talking to God but I need to learn to talk with God and not just when I feel I need him but always and to praise Him for all my blessings. I do so love the Lord but the world gets in my way on a daily basis and it is so hard to stay focused. God help me! I don’t see answers to prayers that I believe are so important. My daughter and her children may end up homeless in a far away city and I don’t have the means to help her. It is an awful situation and we all need to trust God for his intervention in this circumstance and wait for His answer. He cares and I know that. I need to feel Him nearby and sometimes I just don’t. This lesson really spoke to me about staying plugged into His word and prayer. I just need to trust him more and more and let it go and let God do His thing. You are all in my prayers ladies. I love you all so much. May God bless you today and may His peace go with you today and each day forward

    • Lord Jesus I pray for Jeanne and this huge task of raising her grand kids. I pray for her to have your peace in the midst of it all. I pray for her daughter and all the concerns she has for her and her family. Thank you Jesus that although it is impossible with man it is never impossible with You! You lord Jesus are the Mighty One and so we pray for your answers to come and your peace and joy in the midst of it all. Thank you Jesus for Jeanne who is blessing her grandchildren with her life. Bless Jeanne about what we could ask or think. In Jesus we pray amen.

      • Liz, as I was going over the past blogs I came across this one. God bless you for praying for me. God knew I really needed to read this at this time in my life. Thank you so much for your concern and your caring heart.

  16. Though I don’t have time to read each and every blog, the few I did were great to read. Still plugging away. Trying to fit in time to read chapter 5 today. I guess my big girl thing would have to be I thought I could do mother hood all by myself…. Girl was I ever wrong. The only way I will get through this is through GOD period. He is the strength, He is the grace, and He is the motivation to keep on and do this mom thing each and every day. Somedays i truly get it and others I pull the covers over my head. But God nudges me and I send a prayer up and He gets me going.

  17. Melissa D. says:

So, am I the only one who got behind on the reading? I guess it all goes back to the reason I’m doing this study! Attempting to catch up…

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Melissa ~

Do not get discouraged. Just keep reading and fixing your eyes on Jesus while you take it all in. You are here for a reason because he lead you here. we are Blessed to have you here and I am pretty sure you are not the only one who is behind. Take your Time Sweet Sister and let it all soak in.

      Blessings and Hugs

  18. Denise says:

One of these days, I am going to have time to blog. I would love to take what I have running through my head and put it on paper to encourage others. Thanks to everyone who is able to take the time and blog. I enjoy reading your stories.

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Denise

Start by using a journal and go from there. I carry one with me every where now so I can write what I am thinking and Sometimes I go back and use that for some of my blogs.

I wish I blogged more;) Wishing you luck and Hope to see a Blog from you someday soon ;)

      Blessings

  19. WOW I shared the verses with my Life group last night. We went around and placed our name in each of the verses on the extra activity at the end of the chapter. It was so moving. I going to share with my Monday night Bible study group. Thank you again so much.

  20. Sherry says:

To stay plugged in I have to do my Bible study devotion first thing before my husband gets up.And as I go through out my day I talk and pray. When I have a little bit of down time through out the day I try to read my Bible .I am really enjoying this study thanks again

  21. 1) Through Exodus 33:14 verse mapping “God says I’m very important to him. He goes every where with me. His gift to me is calm presence. I praise His loving heart that leads me and blesses me.” 2) I watch Joyce Meyer Monday-Friday, I read “Jesus Calling by Sarah Young and then I dig into my Life Application Bible to see how to better apply God to my life. I have always use written to God and His answers. 3) I’m only half way through this Chapter as I took care of my daughter and grandson for last two days. So far I realize God can heal what I’ve destroyed through an abortion 33 yrs ago and how I destroyed my body through holding that secret in until10 years ago. When Christ should me love through my church family as I told them my story and they loved me and Jesus washed me clean. God blessed me by allowing me to mentor a young woman with a 3 yr old daughter and then pregnant as I had been she was strongly considering abortion and God changed her heart. She is now married with 3 daughters. 4) I’m blessed even with chronic ailments I can take care of other people. Through phone, text, email, web, cards and letters. I’m blessed as God protected me in the room car crashed into and we just received the check to fix our house from 6 weeks.
I’m blessed my daughters health is better through prayer and medication. I’m truly blessed through this study, fellowship on FB and here and God’s Word.

    • Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

      Tracy

thank you for sharing! I am speechless, God is moving in You and it is awesome!
Your words just Blessed me! Thank you & God Bless you <3

  22. Marie (Ree) says:

Since I’ve joined this OBS I’ve tried to make a better commitment to take better care of me by getting to bed earlier, so I can get up early enough to have my quiet time with the Lord before I go to work. This has made a huge difference in the way I respond to stressors at work!

I think the biggest take away from this Chapter for me was that “Peace is not a matter of life or circumstances, it’s a matter of the heart.” When I start my day with the Lord, it calms me immediately and changes my heart, so my actions are changing as a result, along with my reactions to the former things that used to send me in a tail spin!

Since this study began I’ve tried to focus on my writing again! I’d forgotten how much that calms my mind! I’ve really been feeling the Lord tug at my heart to attend the “She Speaks”Conference in July in Charlotte, NC. Though I have no real experience only a Big Dream…but I’ve been praying about it and after talking with my Husband and the Director of Women’s Ministries at my Church, I’ve decided to take a “Wee Step” and GO! I booked my trip last night! Melissa, I signed up for one of your work sessions so I look forward to meeting you in person! I’m excited and looking forward to seeing what the Lord has in store for me there!

I will continue to read posts and lift EVERYONE’S concerns to the Lord in prayer!
    Blessings!
    Marie

  23. The way I try to stay plugged in is by getting a few devo emails that I read in the morning. I get one from a friend that just has a verse with encouraging words, my home church devo, KLOVE sends “An Encoraging Word” email and I get the Proverbs 31 email. I love at the end of Proverbs 31 devo that it has a power verse.

In the evening I try to read a page from “My Daily Bread” – love this, it’s a small pamplet that I have read for at least 10 years. It takes a verse and does a life application to it. Also, I try to read a day from my One Year Bible as well. Not saying I do this everyday (!) , but at least a few. Keeps me focused on God’s word.

  24. Lauren Beach(OBS Group Leader) says:

love love all the blog post. I have still yet to finish writing mine. It is part way done but I am stuck….will post later! I am loving reading all your wonderful blogs!

    Blessings and Hugs

  25. Katrina says:

So many great blogs/bloggers in this bunch! Just wanted to say thank you to all who pour out your hearts each week so openly for all of us to read. I’ve been truly blessed by you all.

  26. I try to say in prayer.”Dear God you have provided for me until now.I know you will not leave me”AND HE WON”T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
