SLL Week 12, Day 3~ Real Life

Around here we are all about, Real Hope for Real Life. What exactly does that mean?

  • It means you can be yourself.
  • You can trust us here.
  • We aren’t going to sugar coat or pretend.
  • We aren’t going to be fake. There’s enough of that in the world already!
  • And we aren’t going to lead you down a path that has a dead end.
  • We understand that life has its ups and downs. And we can talk about the truth of it all.
  • It means that in this community your are welcomed, loved, and appreciated…where you are, for who you are, and how you are.

The NIV Real Life Devotional Bible for Women was written for women like us. Let me tell you why~

  1. brittany jacobson says:

your so right you can be your self here I encourage the women here to read the women’s blogs when we have a blog hop . there is so much encouragement towards each other

    • Kris Danko (OBS Small Group Leader) says:

Brittany, I agree, I love reading the blogs and seeing how other ladies are interpreting the chapters and what they’re learning!

  2. Thank you for your blog posts and emails. Living away from home (my husband works on the road so we live in hotels and can move at a moments notice)- it is hard for me to warm up to people or find positive people to be around. Thus, I have found myself fallen into a depression. The bright spot of my day is finding your email and remembering that I have someone to share God with me each day. Thank you. With funds being tight with car repairs and travel expenses, I have not been purchasing the books, but following your emails. I would love to win these as I feel like they could really help me ‘reconnect’.

    • Karen R. says:

Sheila, wow, I cannot imagine living on the road! I am so glad you found this group because I know that is what has kept me going and hopefully it will you too! The best thing is is that no matter where you are God will ALWAYS be with you! Saying a prayer for you this morning!

    • I cannot imagine living on the road either! Finding positive people to be around can be tough as it is, and having to do that over and over and over again would definitely drain your soul after awhile I would imagine. The emails and reading the blogs and the comments are the bright spot of my day as well, it’s so great to be able to connect and feel like you “belong” somewhere. Great daily inspiration! Praying for you Shelia!!!

    • Sheila,

Are you on Facebook? We have awesome Facebook Small Groups with each study. I think this could be a great way for you to connect in a smaller setting with a group of women.

Email Angie, our awesome OBS assistant and she can help you get connected. Angie@Proverbs31.org

    • Kris Danko (OBS Small Group Leader) says:

Sheila, I agree with Melissa about the small groups–I participated in a small group for a few studies and this is my first one as a leader. The women are so encouraging to each other and we get to know each other outside of the OBS. I truly, truly love these women with all my heart! If you are on Facebook, it’s a great thing to look into!

    • Dottie OBS small group leader says:

First off ~~HUGS~~ to you dear sister! I cannot imagine having to live on the road! I am constantly surrounded by not-so-positive folks and I know that is very draining spiritually. I agree with Melissa about the FB Small Groups! They are so wonderful and have been such a blessing to me during my time with Online Bible Studies! I pray that God provides a way for you to feel connected to godly women who can encourage and support you.

  3. Linda G says:

Life is having its downs this week. My mother is in the hospital and may not come out. She has been very ill and this has just taken hold of her where she may not have any fight left. I put this in God’s hands. I am so grateful for this bible study as it has helped me realize I NEED God’s help. I NEED God to handle these things. I NEED God’s guidance and Word. I am still learning as I am a fairly new Christian, but plan on continuing to soak up his Word and put ALL my trust and faith in Him.
Thank you OBS Ladies for providing this study!

    • Karen R. says:

Saying a prayer for you and your mom Linda! You are so right just lean on God and let him carry you through this. Cyber hugs!

    • Linda,

I just lost my Mom after a two year fight. I completely know your hurt. It is so inspiring to see you giving it up to God. He will surround you in His unfailing love and you can trust Him. I am praying fervently for you. That you feel the overwhelming peace and know the abundant tender mercies from The Lord in these days.

As you draw closer to The Lord, the real enemy will do all he can to destroy your heart by being in your head in first person. Know that in advance and take your thoughts captive in the presence of The Lord. You are a beautiful child of your Heavenly Father and He is singing exultations over you.

Much love. Take care sweet sister in Christ.

      • Debbie W. (OBS Group Leader) says:

Linda lifting you in prayer and your mom. I lost my mom in Feb this year. It is hard and I am so glad you are here where OBS can love on you because without my Father and these ladies and my church, I would not have been able to go through this. Many prayers, many thoughts and virtual hugs coming your way.

    • Praying for you and your mom Linda! We all need God’s help, guidance, and His Word, and that is wonderful that you are seeking that! You are doing well to put all your trust and faith in Him, He will be with you the whole way through!

    • Praying for you and your mom Linda. I just sent you an email.

Please keep us posted and continue to let us know how we can be praying for you.

      Much love to you <3

    • Praying for you and your mom, Linda! <3

    • Linda…This is Liz, checking in on you and your mom. Continued prayers for you.

  4. Wow that Bible looks great. I may need budget that next month.
So I’m going to humble myself a little bit now. I’m trying to get better at asking for help, especially in my prayer life. I’ve got a situation in my life, in my body, that needs prayers. It is a situation where I’m letting anxiety attempt to overpower my patience for God’s plan, and I think all you girls have been there. I can feel myself wanting everything right now according to my plan. I can feel that lack of strength I’ve felt before when I feel like I can’t wait anymore for God’s plan to reveal itself. I don’t want to feel that way. I want to feel confident that God will reveal Himself in His time, and it will be perfect. I want to not forget in this rough time that God only has His best for me. I want to be able to peacefully be still and know that He is God and His perfect best is on the way. This isn’t a situation where I am ill. I’m thankfully not. My husband and I are wanting another baby, and the waiting period is a bit excruciating…and it hasn’t even been that long. I’ve had a miscarriage prior to getting prenant with my daughter, so I always have this anxiety of whether or not I’ll have another. It’s always a thought in the back of my mind. OBS sisters and leaders, I just want your prayers today not just for God to bless us with a child, but for us to have strength to be able to peacefully wait for such a big gift to be given…one that I know many people never get but desperately want. I want the strength to be peacefully patient especially now. Thanks to this awesome study, I’m taking my anxiety a day at a time, spending time with God in prayer, and in His word. If anybody has any scripture suggestions, I am all ears. I could say I’m going to dive into my everyday distractions while I wait, which is true to some extent. but I want to dive into strengthening and comforting scripture even more because lets face it…busy work brings us temporary relief from anxiety, but God’s word brings us permanent relief as it strengthens our existing faith and foundation in Christ. Any words or scriptures anyone has I look forward to reading. As always, there is power in prayer. God Bless all of you girls and that you for your support and prayers.

    • jackie s says:

One of the stress busting scriptures at the end of this chapter is:
“I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62: 1-2.
This is also the verse that hangs in the room where I get massages:) Always calms my heart when i see it.

      • Jackie thank you so much for this scripture and encouraging words. They have been so helpful nc are full such strength! It is really awesome and I truly appreciate it.

    • Jennifer says:

Oh, Jenny, I am praying peace over you – keep Isaiah 26:3, I think, close to your heart – “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.” Find a piece of jewelry, keep that Christian music going, litter your home with Bible verses – anything that will be a constant visual reminder of His love and perfect plan for you. What’s the verse in Jeremiah – I know the biggies are in 29, 31, and 33 – “I know the plans I have for you, to prosper, not to harm you, to give youa future and a hope” – I know I didn’t get that one precisely right – don’t have my Bible immediately handy! :)

      Much love,

      • Thank you so much, Jennifer. I love this Bible verse and I will keep it close to me heart. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply with these. I’ve written them down do keep in myth arsenal of strength full stress busting scriptures. And you did we’ll with Jeremiah 29:11! I love that verse. It is as fantastic reminder of who God really is. God bless you!

    • My sweet Jenny,
I understand your anxiety. I went through a miscarriage and finally came to think that after several years of trying that we weren’t going to be able to be blessed with children. In God’s time I was surprised to find out I was expecting and now have a thriving 3 and 4 1/2 year old. My verse for you today is one I have to say to myself daily.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

      • Thank you for your kind words. I never wish for anyone to go through what my husband and I had to go through, but as we’ve both seen, God made it all better in His time. And what a blessing your two babies are, just like my baby girl. It is proof that ache does have plans to prosper our lives, and give us hope and a future! Thank you so much for your words. I pray for you and your wonderful family! God bless!

    • Jenny,
Sweet sister, I’m so glad you reached out for prayer. It’s an honor to pray for you.

I can relate to living with anxiety. I have been there and it’s no fun that’s for sure. God’s Word is powerful, you are wise to seek peace in Him.

There’s a great book titled Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow. That book really helped me learn to rely on God. It was spiritually powerful but also very practical. I loved it. (you can check out Chapter 1 here: http://www.christianbook.com/reader//1352257440?item_no=061417

I also sought wise counsel from a Christian counselor and my physician.

The Scripture that has been shared already is great! I love how this group is so sweet & caring. Here’s a few more~

      Philippians 4:6-7
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

      Philippians 4:11-13
11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. 12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ,[a] who gives me strength.

      Big Hugs to you! <3

      • Melissa,
God bless you. You are such a fantastic obs leader. There are so many people participating in this study, so I’m sure it is a busy job. But I want you to know how much I appreciate you words of encouragement, your scriptures, and your kindness. And the book suggestion! I got online right after I read your reply and ordered it. I’m in TN for the weekend, so I had it shipped to TN so I could start it ASAP. I am really excited. Our next study doesn’t start for awhile, and now that I’ve done these obs, I can’t not have Bible study tasks everyday. It is the way I start each and every day, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without morning Bible study time. Even though Gd lead me here and opened the door to the obs, you are the messenger as are the other awesome leaders, and I love you girls so,much. These studies have fulfilled me I ways I can’t describe. Thank you.

    • Jenny, my prayers to you. I can relate. We got pregnant right away with my now 2yr old daughter, without even really trying. I can say we were a bit spoiled and I was very naive to all the problems that can occur. My pregnancy went smoothly. Since my daughter’s birth I’ve experienced two miscarriages in a row, and a not so fun test. Everything was fine. I had a very difficult time understanding why all that was happening to me. Even now that I’m three months pregnant, I still have a hard time believing it’s all going to be okay this time. That’s what I thought the last two times. This study has helped a lot. I just work on trusting God handing all my concerns over to him, letting him carry the burden of my worry. And take it one day at a time. :) Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.

      • Oh Emily I pray for you. It is a nerve wracking journey, I understand. For awhile, I was confused as to whether or not it was really something I wanted to talk about, or even if I was supposed to talk about it. But now thanks to you girls and certainly God, I know it is ok. I’m honored that you shared your story with me, and I am going to pray pray pray for you. God has nothing but His best plans for our lives, we know that. And he’s not going anywhere. I tell you what. This morning, I gathered up all the verses you girls have offered me as well as a few of my own and surrounded myself in them this morning as I prayed to The Lord. It really gave me comfort and strength to “sit in God’s lap” as Tracie mentioned, and I’m going to continue to do this exercise with you in my prayers as well. Prayers are with you and I pray for you a safe and healthy journey. Let’s hang on to God and our faith with all we’ve got. He isn’t leaving us. He’s our strength and our fortress. God bless and peace to you. Thank you.

    • Jenny, you are not alone. I am right there with you sister! I have a doctors appt tomorrow and I am very anxious. Prayers & hugs to you!

      • I pray that your doctors appointment went well. If it didn’t happen to go as you planned or if it did, I pray for strength and peace for you my sister. I would love to hear how it turns out for you and I’m praying for you either way. Lots of love!

  5. I discovered Proverbs 31 a year or so ago, but I didn’t read the devotionals regularly. At the beginning of 2013 I returned to Proverbs 31 and began the practice of daily devotionals, Bible reading, and online Bible study. It has been a TRUE BLESSING! I love the fact that I can fit it into my schedule whenever I have time; for me, early mornings works best. I have met many women from around the country and some who are very near to my own backyard. All of us have one thing in common, a love of the Lord and a desire to grow in his word. I have noticed a distinct change in my temperament, my stress, and my spirit; Proverbs 31 has been a major part in that. Thank you for your ministry!

    • Debbie W. (OBS Group Leader) says:

So glad God brought you are here with us Stella!

    • Pat (OBS small group leader) says:

I’m so glad you’re back, too, Stella!! Have you already signed up for the next study? πŸ˜€

    • I agree…it’s really nice to have such a great resource to access, anytime of the day or night. Overall Proverbs 31 has also been a big part of helping me reconnect with God, which really does have an impact on my attitude and relationships with others.

  6. I find the comment section here as encouraging as the study! From encouragement to pouring our hearts out here it helps so much to see how people are applying the study as well as how they are struggling. Both make me feel like I’m not alone bc I try to apply everything but still fail…ALOT! It’s nice to not feel so alone with that!

    • Debbie W. (OBS Group Leader) says:

I love the comment section too Stacy and like you at first I didn’t read them EVERY day, but now I am finding how blessed I am. Hope you have checked out the blog hop Thursdays. Read a few tomorrow and see what you think. I love them and try to read them all every week because so many women sharing their hearts.

    • Kristy Aiken (OBS Group Leader) says:

Me too! I love it. You are definitely not alone, sister. Praying for you to have a peaceful day clinging to your Lord and Savior :-)

    • Stacy,
I’m SO GLAD to hear you say that the comment section is as encouraging as the study! That is truly my heart’s desire~ that this be a real life community for all who are a part of it.

Thank you so much for being part of our OBS group/community!

    • Me too! It makes me feel better knowing I am not the only one out here struggling with something!

  7. jackie s says:

What a fantastic idea – a devotional Bible!
Stressed Less Living – am realizing more every day that *yes, stress will happen and is real and *yes, the Lord must be more present in my life each and every day!

  8. Novella says:

Last night I started a Jumpstart Program here in PA. I’m going back to school (Harcum College) to complete all the credits I need to obtain my degree.
To my surprise the first class Topic was “Stress” we viewed a video & read the first two chapters of our required book then we gathered forming a circlewe each was allowed to speak on what we learned from it all. As the women went around the circle my turn came. Usually I’m timid but last night I knew it was time to be strong in Christ.
I reached into my bag pulled out Stessed Less Living & spoke of the Proverbs Online bible book club. The information shared was good but it has nothing on the spiritual feeding we get from Tracie Miles based on the Solid foundation of the Holy Word. God is so good, I’m taking the classes at a partnership site which happens to be a house of The Lord. I’m excited for the new journey I am on & look forward to putting into action all I have learned from this journey with you all on Stressed Less living. We have to ask Daily for our strength in Christ to move along & be light to the dark areas of the world.
I pray that you all find & daily ask for the Peace that we only get from the Most High. Peace unlike the world, surpasses all understanding, that no one can take away from us. In Jesus Name I pray Amen

Excited for our next reading journey
Have a peace filled blessed day everyone!

After class a couple of the women asked to see the book & took down the information . To God be the glory.

  9. Paige Ward says:

The above reasons is why I love this group so much!

  10. I have absolutely loved this study, and my small group – what an encouragement they have been to me! I’ve had way more stress than normal through this study and keep thinking that there’s a reason I’m in this study at the time that I am. God always has PERFECT timing. =-)

    • Kris Danko (OBS Small Group Leader) says:

God’s timing IS always perfect, hopefully the tips in the book have helped you deal with your stress. Prayers it all calms down for you and you can enjoy God’s peace and be stress-free.

  11. When I see friends struggle, I always look for a book or Bible to guide them. I have the Women of Faith Study Bible and it was such a great tool when I took my year long walk through the Bible. I have given Tracie’s book to two of my friends who are going through struggles in their lives. While we don’t always know why these paths are put into our lives, the only way to true peace is through our faith in God. Even in the al-anon courses I have attended to understand addiction, they teach you about your “higher power” and how important it is to reach out and trust and give it all to Him. We know there is only one true higher power, and I use the information and steps I have learned to pour out my heart, forgive and trust the one and only true God that can bring us the peace in our lives we all so desperately desire. When the stress of life drops you to your knees, we have to pray to him, talk to him. I have to admit, I have forgotten that at times when I get hit in so many directions. However, I always hear him calling me back and the true peace I feel comes from knowing he is on this walk with me. Trust…it is what it is all about. I love these morning devotions and will truly miss this study, but look forward to the next one.

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Becky I am so with you sweet sister. When all the distractions come aka stress of life.. I know I have to stop right then and there and give it to God and I have found when I do He is ALWAYS Faithful…. Praying for you on your walk with Him and looking forward to the next study…. ((((hugs))))

  12. Meg Derosier says:

I have loved this study and my group that i have been in.. . I would love one of the Proverbs 31 bibles but i just cant afford it! ;( Oh well maybe someday!

  13. Stephanie Mitchell says:

I have joined this study soooo late in the game. You guys are already at the end. HOWEVER, I am enjoying it so much, realize I do live a stress-filled life and also realize that still being a ‘baby believer’ is ok, but after 20+ years, it is time to admit I have been scared of moving forward in my beliefs because I figured out that I have been looking for what ‘good’ Christians do. All along, all god wanted from me is what I would do. THAT to him is a good Christian. Someone who looks to him for direction not to what other folks are doing.

    • Stephanie,
Are you on Facebook? We have small groups to go with each study that are on FAcebook and I think you would really love it! If you are interested, email Angie, Angie@Proverbs31.org and she can get you info on how to sign up :)

I’m so glad you realized what a “good Christian” is! Oh my when I compare myself to “good Christians” I often don’t look to good! So thankful God knows my heart!

Thanks for sharing this with us today! Blessings to you <3

  14. Linda Hunsinger says:

This study has been the best! I have learned that getting into God’s Word and praying faithfully about all that stresses me has started to lift some burdens. Thank all of you at Proverbs 31!!

  15. I am thankful for Proverbs 31 ministries. I am always so encouraged when I realize I am not the only woman in the world with struggles. Others have had the same experiences and “lived to tell about it!” :)

    • Christa H. (OBS leader) says:

We are all on this crazy trip together, Amanda. We all struggle and we live to tell about, then we try to help others avoid the struggles. Thanks for being on the journey with us!

  16. Jennifer says:

Just bought a Bible I’m in love with for Mother’s Day – a new Bible will have to wait! :( Have to confess the budget is not amenable to an additional purchase right now either. :)

    Much love,

    • Jennifer says:

Sorry to repost myself – I forgot to say thank you, Melissa!!! I had been using my ipad as my Bible with the youversion app – which is fabulous – but, it’s not the same as a big NIV study Bible with all the study notes and other bells as whistles. I’ve really enjoyed highlighting the verses we’ve studied and making little notes in the margins. I’ve also taken the challenge to spend more time in my Bible, and I’ve been chewing on small sections of Matthew with my Abba for the past couple of weeks as it fits into our time together – it’s been beautiful what He has revealed to me – I’m running out of excuses to start my own blog, though I’m hesitant to take on one more thing until I see how our schedule of extra-curricular activities levels out when I go back to work and the kids go back to school. Greatly appreciate your prayers for guidance on this one! :)

      Much love,

      • Jennifer, what Bible did you purchase? I am weighing pros and cons of this Bible & Women of Faith Study Bible. I have 3 Bibles now. I love getting different versions. I guess it’s a good thing to be a Bible collector. I kept refusing/ignoring starting a blog but I finally bit the bullet! I don’t really know what I am doing but I will get there! Hopefully by July 28 I will have it figured out for the next study!

        • Jennifer says:

Hi Emily! I have so many Bibles in the back of our closet it’s embarassing – I love to buy new ones when I’m gearing up to get reading the Scriptures again – I love to read the Word in different versions. I probably should donate some of them – the issue for me is that so many of them contain precious memories of the life I lived at the time I was going through them.

I splurged (I had a coupon for Lifeway) and bought a BIG large print NIV Study Bible – I’m turning 40 this year, so my eyesight isn’t doing wonky things yet, though I’m enjoying having more space and bigger print. I think Zondervan really outdid themselves on this one – lots of articles and pictures and graphs and color – it’s just giving a lot of depth to what I’m studying.

          Much love,

  17. I am so thankful that we had the focus on Romans 8:26, because as we went through the study I would read the comments and pray for all the wonderful women, but never really knew how to pray for them as I don’t know them. I am so thankful the Spirit intercedes for me, so I can lift everyone up!!! Also the videos are great Melissa, thank you!!!

  18. Sharon Tavera says:

I always say everything happens for a reason -there is a bigger plan in the works and that’s exactly how I feel about finding Proverbs 31 and my amazing group (#48) …I may not be the best student but I’ll tell you every day I’m learning and growing in the Lord and to me that is a huge blessing! I cannot thank everyone enough!!!

  19. Jeanie Kelley says:

Wished I would have known it would have been that low to buy from Prov. 31. When it first came out I went to Family Christian and paid way more for it. It is the hard back cover, but I love the Bible. It is the only one I have at my desk so this will be the one that I will use for the OBS studies and my quiet time. Wonderful news I was able to get up again this morning and have some time with God. I also think I need to have some one hold me accountable so I will do it on a daily basis. Thanks for the wonderful study. I appreciate you all so much since I do not have that many friends here in St.Louis. You have made me feel so welcome and loved. Thanks again for this ministry. Blessings for a wonderful day.

    • Christa H. (OBS leader) says:

Jeanie..we love you, girl! I think you will find no lack of accountability partners with this group!

  20. I have the Prov31 Bible in my IPad and love it–but, i think I will purchase one b/c I love being able to flip back and forth and there’s just something about having it on the table by my Quiet Time area to open up to read, highlight and make notes in :)

  21. It’s been a rough week, as my aunt, uncle and cousin were in a tragic house fire and my cousin may not survive. This OBS has taught me that God is in control and with us at every moment and will love and guide us through every situation. As heart broken as I am, I am at peace knowing he is in control. Thank you OBS team for all that you do and say to bring God’s. Word to us everyday.

    • Dawn,
I’m so sad to hear about your family’s tragedy. I just said a prayer for your aunt, uncle, and cousin (and you too!). Please keep us posted, your OBS sisters are praying for you and we love you.

I’m thankful God’s peace is getting you through this. Keep trusting in Him <3

  22. Proverbs 31 is an amazing ministry!!! Especially the OBS group! I am so very thankful that I was led to join this study! I have struggled with finances for many years and it amazes me how at the moment the sign-ups for this study became open my family was experiencing a surplus of funds and I was able to sign up, purchase the book and a few supplies for the study. God is amazing and always makes a way. This study has blessed me and opened my eyes to so many new ways. Thank you ladies for all you do!!

    • Mindy,
My family has been struggling with finances for years. When I saw this study coming up I specifically asked for the book for my birthday gift from my parents. It was great timing. Isn’t God wonderful in his timing! I know we will still struggle with finances but I learned so many tools to help me through it in this study.

  23. I am so thankful for Proverbs 31 ministries and OBS, they been a true blessing in my life.

  24. I am brand new to the group and this is my first time seeing a post! Loving it all ready! Praising God for putting it in my path at just the right time! πŸ˜€

  25. Leslie Smith says:

Thank you for the reminder that we don’t aren’t who the world tells us we are. We are who God intended us to be!

  26. Susan T says:

I can’t believe it. First study where I actually finished book on time. I didn’t comment much and didn’t journal or verse map. Just keeping it real! πŸ˜‰ But I did keep up with my small FB group and feel like God showed me many helpful gems with this study also. Amanda Gibson, I have miraculously woken up a bit before my alarm this week I start day with prayer/communion. I always feel like I have such a long way to go to be who God wants me to be but imperfect progress still helps! My Martha-ness gets in my way many times!

    • Pat (OBS small group leader) says:

Wooooo hooooo, Susan!!! I’m so thankful you’ve been able to keep up with the study, and remember to just keep going for that imperfect progress, girl!!

  27. Finding Proverbs31 ministries has been a wonderful blessing for me. I have been teaching Bible Studies for years in my local church. This ministry has given me hope that I will be able to grow to a larger level and write/speak to a larger audience one day. I love the studies and the online groups and we can be ourselves. It is so wonderful.

  28. You all are such a blessing, thanks so much for the work that you do to bring such great resources right to our fingertips. I just happened upon these online studies right before Let.It.Go started a few months ago, and it was just what I needed! It’s been so wonderful to have this online community of sisters in Christ to encourage one another and grow together in God’s Word. Thanks again for all that you do to Melissa and the ladies of Proverbs31 ministries.

  29. The authentic faith and real hearts on display in this community are what draws me in again and again. It’s a safe place to grow and share and I’m so thankful that Proverbs31 Ministries and Melissa Taylor provide it!

    • Katrina says:

      Well said Missy! Ditto.

    • Christa H. (OBS leader) says:

A safe place is so hard to find in this world, and it is especially sad that it is hard to find a safe place within the Christian community. I’m glad you’ve found it here, Missy.

  30. I just signed up for the daily devotionals and the online study that is starting in July! I am truly in need of quality Bible Study and am looking forward to the accountability! Thank you!!!

    • Katrina says:

Welcome Cassie. Quality is definately what you’ll find here. It’s hard to believe I only got started here 2 studies ago. It feels like I’ve been here forever. That’s how welcoming and real everyone is. You will feel at home befor you know it!

  31. Stephanie W says:

Love giveaway opportunities!! I seem to have this ever growing list of books and other resources I would like to invest in…my budget says otherwise though. I can definitely say I am doing better about not being super stressed about my finances! Baby steps :)

    • Katrina says:

I know what you mean about the ever growing list! Me too! So many great books and resources to be had through P31!

  32. I am so grateful that I found this website, but moreso, how easy it has been to participate because upon reading some of the very first comments, I realized this was as real as it gets! I have been most challenged with the blog hop. I was scared to create one and write, but found amazing support in not only reading others blog, but in the encouragement of those who read mine. And I find even more encouragement when I read comments here from those who are posting for the very first time! This has been the perfect next step of my journey and I cannot wait until the next study so I can continue on this path!

  33. I am so thankful for these studies and “real” women! I have 4 kids I stay at home with and my husband travels. I had been praying for a way to connect and be encouraged by other women living for Jesus. These studies are exactly that for me. The other benefit is I get to encourage other women and share what I am learning. I have experienced true growth in the last weeks that has pointed me back to God and helped me to fill up on Him! Thank you for following this calling He has given you! I feel so blessed!:)

  34. Katrina says:

I’ve started reading through the bios and looking through the web pages of the many ladies that make up P31 and it’s awesome to learn the stories and passions that back this wonderful ministry – all first class all the way, and all such good stewards of God’s Word. I have yet to see or read something that made me go hmmm, as far as questioning the credibility or wisdom. So thankful for the opportunities through these studies, the devotions, and blogs that we have to basically hang out with such inspirational and positive people.

  35. Good morning ! How can I get on a face book group for the next study we will be doing? I know something was shared here a bit ago but I can’t remember what that was? Thanks for the info. Just love this study and the sharing, praying for one another and the gift of your fellowship. Imagine what heaven will be like! I know I can’t truly get a real perspective on what it will be like. But I know it will be worth it all when we see Jesus ,life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ ! One glimpse of his dear face all sorrow will erase so bravely run the race till we see Christ. Esther Kerr Rusthoi When We See Christ

  36. I may need to check out the devotional Bible.. I just know I love my Bible.. like can’t even imagine starting a new Bible… I have such love in my Bible I carry with me. Notes, highlights, pictures – little glimpses of my life & what I’ve gone through at certain times…

most importantly, the things that specifically speak to me straight from God.. all marked up, ready for me to hear His voice once again

its really something to see the power that one book holds…

    • I love these things that you shared about your Bible! I just recently bought myself my own Bible (instead of looking up verses online or in my daughter’s Bible). I really love being able to write notes in it and underline and date passages. You are absolutely right, the Bible is powerful!!

  37. Annette Fleming says:

With all the problems in the world, thanks for being real and giving insight how to stress less!!

  38. The OBS here really is a place to feel welcomed and appreciated – thank you for everything you share with us!

  39. Melissa – Thanks for all you do! Oh, by the way I would really like to have this bible!

  40. This Bible is amazing! I have it on my Kindle and it is so very encouraging to be reading scripture then come across a devotional that speaks to what I just read!

  41. Charolette Ragsdale says:

Great video, Melissa! I so need to get one of those Bibles. Another friend of mine has one and she loves hers. I can’t believe this study is almost over. I learned so much about how to better deal with stress and so much more than I originally anticipated. One thing I have learned from all these great studies is that I never regret taking them and walk away being more equipped in dealing with my daily struggles in life with God’s help. Look forward to the next study!

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Charolette isn’t it a comfort to know that we are not alone. God is always with us . I love the opportunity with OBS that we have to study and have other sisters walking through daily struggles to encourage each other and pray for each other. What a Blessing these studies are in my life… ((((hugs))))

  42. I have wanted on of those devotional Bibles ever since I first saw it….I am so hoping that i am able to get one soon!!!

  43. I love Melissa’s videos! I always feel like she has called just to talk to me. It is no accident that this ministry has grown exponentially in the past year. Every time I get a new Bible my son rolls his eyes and assures me the same stuff is in each one. Obviously, he does not understand that sometimes I need the comfort of King James and other times I need to read the clearly stated The Message. Most of the time I’m in the middle using versions aimed at women or what a specific study or article might be using. If you are not in a small group for OBS, it’s a place to meet new friends who soon become sisters as you interact daily. I am so thankful to have gotten hooked on these studies!

  44. Vicki H. says:

I am so thankful for the OBS I can’t tell you how comforting it is to know you can go to other sisters in Christ anytime of the day and ask for pray needs. My small group with Kara is wonderful. Thank you Melissa for your encouraging words and I try and keep all these needs asked for in prayer. Hugs!!

  45. gina ball says:

Just finished this wonderful book. I have been truly blessed. I am leaving my full time job in management to pursue a stressed less life. I am trusting God with all my heart. Thank you for this obs

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Gina praying for you as you take your steps of Faith in the new direction God is taking you. He is Faithful … (((hugs))))

  46. Kim Suhr says:

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Woo Hoo!!! I am soooo Excited for the next study too… It is going to be Awesome :)

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Can’t wait for the next study … I am soooo Excited !!!!!… It is going to be Awesome :) Glad you will be joining us Kim

  47. Some encouragement is so needed.

    • Kim Golds OBS group Leader says:

Praying for you right now sweet Paula. Romans 8:28 is what pops into my mind right now…. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. That is a promise you can stand on. Know that you are loved and cared for. Lifting you to the throne of our Father…. ((((hugs)))

  48. I am so glad I found this site. This site has changed me, my life and who I want to be.

  49. Phyllis Nichols Gutierrez says:

Love this Devotional Bible! I encourage everyone to get one. Prayers that God will make a way for every lady who desires a copy to have one.
P31 OBS is the best and feel so blessed to have this means of Bible Study available with such wonderful teachers and OBS Leaders!
Thank you all for all that you do to bless so many women’s lives.

  50. I don’t have know how to do the Blog Hop, but I enjoy reading everyone else’s. I love the fact that I can be myself when commenting on some of the questions in this study. I have truly enjoyed this study, and feel less stressed. I didn’t say I was stress free, I said, I felt less stressed.
