INS Super Challenge

Before we get to the Super Challenge (which I am so stinkin’ excited about!), first I must announce the winner of Wendy Blight’s book. The winner was randomly selected from all those who left comments over the past 2 days.  Drum Roll Please……rat a tat tat tat tat tat  (lousy drum roll that was)

The winner of Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner, by Wendy Blight is:

JENNI DAY!  Congrats Jenni :)   You have won the next Online Bible Study book!  Send me an email so I can get your information!  Now you have a new book and you get the P31 devos to you inbox every weekday!  This must be your lucky week!

Thank you to all who commented over the past 2 days about the Proverbs 31 Daily Devotions and P31 Woman Magazine!  I’m so glad that God is blessing you through these awesome resources. For those of you who signed up and subscribed for the first time, I pray you will love them and that God will speak to you through the messages you will read.  Thanks for continuing to help spread the news about Proverbs 31!

Now on to the INS Super Challenge!  If you are participating in the INS Conference Call Series, then you already know about the challenge and hopefully you have been giving it some prayer and thought.  This was something God placed on my heart and I felt so compelled to share it with all of you.  I knew He was asking me to take the challenge but I think He may be asking you to consider it also.  Of course that is between you and Him, but I’m at least going to share it with you.

The It’s No Secret Super CHALLENGE
Are you up to it?
Here are 9 Challenges based on the 1st 9 chapters of INS. We will discuss these over the next few weeks a little bit, on this blog and on the Online Bible Studies Facebook Page.  Discussion will be limited, but please feel free to take it and run with it yourselves!  Start a thread on the Discussion Board on our Facebook page for example!  Comment to each other here as well.  We still have one more week of study and that will be our focus, but at least begin thinking about which of these challenges God might want you to really commit to and focus on.  I suggest picking 4-5 total, but that’s up to you. You know what you need to work on, so you can decide.
1.  Challenge: Chit chat with the Lord.
Have you responded to God?  Communicate with Him daily.
2.  Challenge: Follow Christ with your actions.
What is Jesus worth to you?  What is God asking you to sacrifice, give, or do?   Do it.
3.  Challenge: Drop the pride.
Have you been focusing on God and helping others rather than trying to get ahead?  Who can you help get ahead instead of grasping at something you deserve?
Extra Challenge:  Not to think so much about ourselves. Give up worrying that you might miss out on something.  Record the unexpected joy you found when you did this.
4.  Challenge:  Controlled Reactions
When you are emotionally hurting:
DON’T numb with food, shopping, dieting, decorating, or margaritas.
DON’T become angry and fight back.
DO let God fight the battle for you.
5.  Challenge: Focus outward, be generous.
No room for greediness.  Have generousity as a foundation of your character.  Who can you bless by sharing with someone in need?
6.  Challenge:  To find the blessing in any and all situations.
When trouble comes your way, what do you do?
Hebrews 13:5
Isaiah 45:3
Find a treasure in a dark time (past or present).  Write it down to remind you of God’s faithfulness.
7.  Challenge: Practice real love.
Where do you find your worth?  How do you rate others?
1 John 3:18-19
Record your experience with practicing real love.  (1 Cor 13 style)
8.  Challenge: Take off the mask.
Do you ask for help when you need it?  Why or why not?
What are your reasons for keeping to yourself and not asking for help?
Get over it.  Ask for help when you need it. Be real. Take off the mask.
9.  Challenge:  Institute a real Sabbath rest once a week.
Are you doing this really?  Are you ready to do it?  Let’ do it.
10.  Your choice
11.  Your choice
12.  Your choice
For me, God has made it clear to work on #2, #4, #6, and #9.  I’m not sure how or what He’s going to do with it but I’m up for the super challenge!
Are you with me?  Are you up for a challenge?

INS~Week 5

Hope everyone had a fabulous Easter celebrating that our Lord is Risen! We are forgiven and set free, and through Him we all have a brand new life ahead of us if we choose Him!  It’s available, so let’s live it. No more hinderances, no more guilt and condemnation, no more lies that we believe. We are chosen by Him, righteous and holy…and by His wounds we are healed. We aren’t perfect and never will be, but we are free and forgiven. Don’t forget that ever my sisters….and don’t let me forget it either!

So far in our study, we have experienced….

and now, through Jesus we are….

Don’t you feel it?  Radiant I mean?  Well, I’ll be honest,I don’t exactly feel it.  And as I look ahead at the titles of the next two chapters, I have a feeling they were written just for me (haha, have you felt that way yet?).  Chapter 9 is about “rest”…which I admit has been my weakness.  Chapter 10 is about “clear skin” (well, it’s in the title at least, it’s really about the beauty of “confessing sins”) still, my skin is anything but clear these days, my psoriasis is a bit worsened lately and confessing sins is never easy.  Is it possible that we could feel radiant even though life on earth is often anything but?  This week, we shall find that out and I’m depending on you more than ever to help discern how.

As I write this week’s schedule, I have been in bed for 2 days straight sick. So please forgive that it’s a little short and sweet!

****Please keep chatting and commenting on the blog. I LOVED how you all began responding to each other last week and hope you like that new feature on the comment section so we can do that more easily! Thank you for opening up and being honest and vulnerable with each other. That is how we grow.

Spring Break Crazy (and mid-week check in)

This week has been full of fun and good, but boy oh boy, do I feel like it should be the weekend already?!?!

Last weekend I had the awesome privilege of traveling to Virginia (about 5 hours from my home) to speak at a women’s retreat in Goshen.  It was such a fabulous time and I just love my new friends! God spoke, we listened, we laughed, we cried, we played, we ate, and we slept.  We also got wet! REAL WET! As the rain poured it seemed we may need an ark to get out of there, but somehow I survived in my little Honda and made it home safely Saturday evening.  It was such a blessing to be a part of God’s Word moving in the hearts of the women this weekend. I’ll never forget it. He moved in me too, and I’m just so in love with Him!  I honestly don’t know what I’d do without the love of God and His Word!  What do people do????

It’s been Spring Break Crazy around my house this week!  The kids are out of school. Hayden is taking driver’s ed. all week, so his spring break is pretty shot! (except he will be one step closer to getting his license as I keep reminding him). We took Blake up to beautiful Appalachian State University on Tuesday for a campus tour. He’s a junior in high school and beginning to look at colleges. On Monday and Wednesday (after work), I took all of the kids to our local amusement park, Carowinds, to ride the big rides and have some family fun together. You see, it’s all been fun and good, but this old lady is tired!!!  I’m not sure how much more fun I can take! haha

Yes, I rode this! And screamed my head off the whole time!

So, how has your week been?  Once again, I’m hearing from you how challenging this study is. I really think Rachel has a way of reaching in and presenting God’s Word into our lives, but also at the same time, she doesn’t let us off the hook so easy. She really asks us to step up to the plate and deliver!  God asks us to do something and we need to ask ourselves, are we really doing it.  I love this because I feel like it has been more than reading a good book. We are growing, learning, and being asked to step out of our comfort zones for the love of Jesus.  Seriously, I could write a book with all of the emails I’ve received about how this study is changing lives.  God is speaking through this study. In order for Him to do that though, we have to have open ears and hearts to hear Him. So I want to commend you on that. Thank you for diving in and being open to hearing God. And then responding.  I know it’s not easy. It’s not easy for me either. I’ve said outloud the word “OUCH” on more than one occasion!

Let me know how you are doing!  Comment here and share your thoughts from the chapters in this book and how God is speaking to you.  You can share anything here….your struggles, your victories, your honest opinions and feelings. This is your safe place so speak up!  Also take advantage of the new comment style where you can reply personally to the specific comments in the comment section. (this is somewhat new to my blog)

Enough for now. I’ll see y’all on Friday for my Good Friday Vlog!  Don’t forget to check out what Rachel’s been blogging this week too over at her blog. www.RachelOlsen.com .

Love and Blessings!
